Kanjani Eight's Ryo Nishikido Leaves Idol Group, Johnny's Agency

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

KANJANI Eight member Ryo Nishikido will leave the male idol group as well as the Johnny & Associates Talent Agency. The 34-year-old singer and actor will finish out his obligations for the month before officially exiting the idol group and agency at the end of September. Nishikido made the announcement on his fan club page on September 5.

The decision came after each member of the group re-evaluated their person goals following the departure of member Subaru Shibutani last year and last year's injury of member Shota Yasuda. Yasuda temporarily left the group to undergo surgery for meningioma, a benign brain tumor. Yasuda underwent surgery in 2017 but did not announce that he received treatment until the following year. During recovery, Yasuda fell and suffered a fracture.

KANJANI Eight intends to continue with the remaining five members.

KANJANI Eight made their CD debut in 2004 with eight members. Over time, several group members left until only six were still active. The group just wrapped up their national tour to commemorate their 15th anniversary September 5. Together the group has performed theme songs for the Nintama Rantaro and Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON anime series.

Nishikido has appeared in various television dramas and films including NHK's Segodon historical drama, Full Throttle Girl, and Niini no Koto o Wasurenaide.
