New To-Love-Ru Darkness Anime to Be 2 New OVAs
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The May issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine is revealing on Thursday that the next To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness anime will be two original video anime (OVA) projects. The eighth and ninth compiled volumes of Saki Hasemi and Kentarō Yabuki's original manga will each bundle an anime DVD. Shueisha will release the eighth volume on August 19 and the ninth volume on December 4. The deadline to pre-order the limited-edition of the eighth volume with the DVD is June 19. The anime DVD bundled with the 8th volume will be approximately 25-minutes long. That DVD anime will adapt the manga's 18th chapter and the "Bangai-hen" that ran in the fifth issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. 19 magazine. The anime DVD bundled with the ninth volume will cover the 28th chapter of the manga and the Bangai-hen that ran in the fourth and sixth issues of Jump SQ. 19.
Animation studio Xebec, director Atsushi Ootsuki, and character designer Yuichi Ouka are all returning from last year's television anime series to work on the two video anime projects.
The official Twitter account for the To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness anime confirmed earlier this month that a new anime project had been green-lit.
Sentai Filmworks licensed last year's television anime adaptation of the manga, and The Anime Network streamed the series in North America.
The fifth volume of the original manga also bundled an anime DVD last year.
