NEW YORK, NY (May 26, 2017) - LeftField Media today announced the promotion of Peter Tatara to the newly-created position of VP of Anime Events, a role which will oversee both the strategic and day-to-day running of LeftField Media's activities within the anime and manga sector. Tatara, previously LeftField's Director of Content, is an anime industry veteran with over 10 years of experience working within Japanese pop culture.

LeftField Media, a three-year-old boutique event organizer, boasts a growing portfolio of shows, including a family of events catering to the anime and manga audience. Tatara will directly manage…

  • Crunchy Roll Expo, a launch event in co-operation with Crunchy Roll, the world's largest anime streaming portal. Crunchy Roll Expo will debut this August in Santa Clara, CA and bring the Crunchy Roll experience to life. Tatara will serve as LeftField Media's chief liaison with Crunchy Roll in developing and executing the event.

  • Anime NYC, a launch event coming this November to the Javits Center in New York City featuring Crunchy Roll as its title sponsor and active support from industry players including Funimation, Kinokuniya, Kodansha, Sentai Filmworks, Tokyo Otaku Mode, Vertical, Viz Media, and Yen Press. Tatara will be responsible for the overall running of this event.

In addition, Tatara will work on adding meaningful anime elements to LeftField's other events including Awesome Con, Washington DC's Comic Con, and Rose City Comic Con, Portland, OR's Comic Con.

Peter Tatara is one of the best in the anime and pop culture events industry,” said Adam Sheehan, Director of Events at Crunchy Roll. “Peter was one of the key reasons why we decided to work with LeftField to help launch Crunchy Roll Expo. I have been lucky enough to work with him on multiple projects over the past 10 years, and I look forward to working with him on many more.”

“Peter's promotion is a continued sign of our commitment to the anime space,” said Greg Topalian, LeftField's Founder and President. “We look to make authentic events significant for both the industries we serve and their fans. We have a deep and long-term investment in creating amazing anime activities, and there's no one better than Peter to drive this forward in a professional, genuine, and heartfelt way.”

Tatara, joining LeftField two years ago, came to the company with over 10 years of event management experience, previously serving as a Content Director with ReedPOP at Reed Exhibitions, where he oversaw guests and events at New York Comic Con and was key in growing ReedPOP's global portfolio, and as an Event Director at Azix Inc, where he produced events with Japanese governmental, tourism, cultural, and culinary partners. He got his professional start at New York-based anime and manga publisher Central Park Media.

“I've been in the anime world since organizing clubs in high school and college, but I never dreamed setting up after-school screenings of Vampire Hunter D would evolve into this,” said Tatara. “I'm deeply honored to lead LeftField's anime focus and work even more closely with our partners and friends across America and Japan.”
