Up until today I always had slight doubts about doing an animation adaptation, but after eye-witnessing MAPPA's high-quality work, those doubts were gone. My heart is pounding with excitement! I would be thrilled if not only the viewers, but also the production team will enjoy making this show!

I'll try to constantly take account of Mr. Kaku's characters' way of life, way of thinking and emotions.
Additionally, I'll try to illustrate the mystical and grotesque atmosphere of Shinsenkyo, where the setting takes place.
I've been going through many trials and errors, and I've been spending tough, but enjoyable days by going through the original story. I'll put all my heart and effort into this work, so please look forward to it!

I've finished reading the original work in a flash, while feeling anxious of the battles being fought in the fabled paradise.
It was very impressive to guess who is the enemy and who is the ally, and some of them cooperated together to fight the battles.
I'm trying to stretch my imagination, so that I could express the world-view of this work with music as well.

[Synopsis]
The time sets the tail end of Japan's Edo period.
Gabimaru the Hollow, a former ninja assassin of Iwagakure is offered a chance to be pardoned of all crimes if he finds the elixir of life on a fabled island. In order to reunite with beloved wife, Gabimaru and a female executioner “Yamada Asaemon Sagiri” go on an expedition to the mystic island to find the elixir of life. When Gabimaru and Sagiri set their feet on the island, they discover that there are other death row convicts with the same purpose.
The island is full of mysterious creatures, eerie artificial statues, immortals ruling the island…
In this mysterious mystic island, can Gabimaru find the elixir of life and return back safely-!?

In 2009, Kaku earned the 14th honorable mention of Jump SQ.'s Newcomer Cartoon Award “Supreme Comic Grand Prize.”
In 2013, he published his work “FANTASMA,” which turned out to be a 3 volume series work. In 2018, he started “Hell's Paradise” in “Shonen Jump+,” and the series ended in January 2021. When the series ended, the animation adaptation was announced.
In 2021, he started “Ayashimon” in “Weekly Shonen Jump.”
