Transcend Through Time and Embark on a Journey to the Bakumatsu Period in Koei Tecmo's Nioh 3

In Addition to Edo, Sengoku, and Heian, the Bakumatsu Period has been Unveiled

BURLINGAME, Calif. – Nov. 21, 2025 – Today, KOEI TECMO America and developer &TEAM NINJA revealed the next stage in their upcoming dark samurai action RPG, Nioh 3, which releases Feb. 6, 2026 on PlayStation®5 and Windows PC via Steam®.

For the first time in franchise history, the Bakumatsu period will be established as a new setting for players to fight through in Nioh 3. Serving as the final era of the samurai, the stage is set in 1800s Kyoto, where the land and iconic landmarks such as the Kiyomizu and Honnoji temples have been overtaken and transformed by the Crucible's influence. 

In addition to encountering new and fearsome yokai, players will also face the Shinsengumi, a military squad that serves the shogunate. Shinsengumi troops are challenging foes equipped with modern weaponry such as firearms and gatling guns, delivering a combination of ranged and multi-directional attacks - a first in the history of the Nioh series. 

During their journey, players will encounter a new cast of distinctive characters unique to each time period. In Bakumatsu-era Kyoto, protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo will meet Takasugi Shinsaku, Okita Soji, and Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the 15^th shogun of the Edo shogunate.

Nioh 3 is now available to pre-order physically and digitally. Players can digitally pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition or separately purchase the Season Pass. Furthermore, a SteelBook® edition is also available to pre-order, and comes with the base game and two exclusive bonus DLCs. All versions of the game come with an early purchase bonus* which can be redeemed from the PlayStation™ Store and Steam®, available for a limited time after the game releases.

Players can also pre-order a special PlayStation®5 physical edition exclusively through the NIS America Store. The Nioh 3 TREASURE BOX includes the base game, a Scampuss Furball Netsuke Charm Keychain, a Nioh 3 Original Desk Pad, the Official Artbook, and a Nioh 3 Selection Soundtrack CD.

Finally, the system requirements for the Steam® version of Nioh 3 have been released. More information can be found on the official Nioh 3 website.

Nioh 3 is currently in development and is scheduled for release on Feb. 6, 2026 on PlayStation®5 and Windows PC via Steam®. The game will include Japanese and English voices with texts in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
