Hi everyone , I thought about making a thread to dissgus the great manga of furouba ( fruit basket )
I'm sure that most of you watched the anime , but did you read the manga ? If not then you should hurry and get your copys now because the anime is 100% different than the manga ( maybe not the first chapters but SURE after chapter 34 ) I know a lot of you , who whatched the anime , are not convinced by the ending of it ( as if the problem is'nt solved yet ) well that is because the ending of the story is in the manga , which did'nt reach the ending yet in Japan !! . So , till which chapter you guys have read ? I've reached ch97 ^__^ ( victory sign ) Note : be careful this thred may contain spoilers Note : sorry for my bad english but English is'nt my first langouge

I'm a total furouba fan! ^ ^
I'm only on chapter 24 (the one with shigure on it n.n wee!)Anyways i love this manga,its different from all the other manga i have read.I haven't seen the anime yet but i plan to..no matter what it takes <<..ph34r m3.In all i would have to say furouba ish my fav.So woot for teh fruits basket! ~mew ichigo~ reminder: please don't post too many spoilers..-sigh-pwease |

You'll really enjoy the anime ( it's just like the manga but they are moving !! ) also the anime effects and the charecters voice's are the best ( in Japanesse ) I feel that whenever I read a fight between Yuki and Kyo I can still hear their voices ( weird I know !! ) I like Fouroba's story because it is sooo related to real life , of course not when they transform  , but their problems and how they solve it
It is the kind of manga/ anime that make you laugh a lot but also cry a lot , to sum up , I LOVE IT |

I agree it does relate to life..cept for the changing part.
I'm so in love with Kyo =3 its so bad that i got a new kitten today and i named him Kyo! WEEE! love ya kyo!buuuuuuuut the 5th volume of fruits basket doesn't come out till next month(just like pretear)anyways..it makes me sad u.u.But being a true furouba fan..i will stick with it! ^ ^ ~is it me or are we the only ones talking in here? T.T~ |

Oh yeah, I'm really surprised how much I'm enjoying a manga series that I've already seen all the anime episodes for (usually in this situation I get bored because I know what will happen). I've developed a thing for Hana-chan after reading the manga- I love her creepy voice and other "effects" used for her in the anime, but she gets some of the best lines in the manga and strongly comes across as a comedic character. One major difference between the anime and manga I've noticed is that Momiji is not German in the anime. I guess a German accent would have been too hard for the Japanese voice actress, but it does make him very cute in the manga. *I do wish that Tokyopop had translated more of the German he uses, though*

I agree about the difference with Moumiji in the manga * I like his cute Germen comments too * , I'm not sure if the anime mantioned it but he talks this way because he has a Germen blood from his mother ( she is from Germany ) his little sister Momo can't talk Japaness perfectly that is why she is always silent behind her mother ( just like a baybe chik ) * cute * I watched the anime before reading the manga and I did'nt like the end of it ( want more want more ) so I looked in the net and was shocked how different it was ( and I'm talking WAY different ) In the manga there are a lot of deatils in every character's life , also the relationships are developed ( you'll find a lot of love couples that you won't even think about in the anime ) The most important think is that there are A LOT of new charecters in the manga , did you gyus notice , the 12 zodiacs are will 13 inclouding the cat , but the anime presents only 11 ( yes yes there are two missing ) those two are showen in the manga ( ho ho ho * Shegure's lough * I feel like spoiling , ok ok I won't say more ) Oh one more thing , I was born in the O'x year , I'm Haru , and yes I have two kind of personality ( but I won't hit people don't worry ) What about you guys , what furouba character are you ? |

It does translate some of the German in volume to yet just in the "super blah blah" section, yet this doesn't tell which ones and where. Which is a little upsetting. Yet I have taken German so I know what he is saying. Question: In Tokyopop translation of fruit basket do you know if they screwed up the German translation because I have noticed that in several instances there are incorrect German spellings or was this the same in the Japanese version?
Also is the anime worth seen because I heard that I doesn't cover all that much of the manga. And by the way I am an Ox. |

I didn't think that the anime was terribly different than the manga. Basically everything in the anime was in the manga (except the ending parts), but a lot of the things in the manga were not in the anime. I have the first four in English, and the first 10 in French. (I can't read Japanese, but hey, I can read French).

Depression : well I'm not sure about Tokyopop ( did'nt receive my copies yet ) but I think they'll translate it properly * just like tokyo bablon *
and about the anime I recomand it not for the story * the manga is more detaild * but for the fun and joy that you'll recive from the character's sound effects * Jappanese not English * Hollerama : I agree with you ( waw you can read French , lucky you , I've taken 2 courses and yet I can't read or understand anything  )

YEs yes yes..the anime is more funny....its more better to watch the anime first then read the manga...In this way, while reading, you can imagine they are talking..as all the voices will be in your mind...
When i first watch FB, i was laughing my socks off..it was so funny..especially between Kyo and Yuki as well the part when Yuki brother is on the scene..hehe that was hilarious...

What are the love couples in the manga that weren't present in the anime?
Also my main question is exactly who is Tohru in love with, Yuki or Kyo? |

Well I can answer both questions but it will be a spoiler !!! Love couples : spoiler[Hatsuharu X Rin ( the horse ) , Utani Arisa X Kureno ( the bird ) , Hatori X Shiraki Mayuko , Yuki X Machi , Ayame X Mine , Akito X Kureno .. Those couples are not YET offical ones and some maybe won't last but still the fact that there are feelings still exest ] Main question : spoiler[in the manga it is obvious that Tohru is in love with .... KYO .... , yes Kyo * and he loves her too * there are many events proof this theary also she ALWAYS blushes and her heart bits fast whenever she is around Kyo , also " the important thing " that Yuki once mentioned that whenever he sees Tohru looking at Kyo it's like she is saying : I love you . Poor Yuki ( sob sob ) but another interesting person will apear in his life that is much better than Tohru , she is Machi , it looks that she loves Yuki but Yuki's feelings are still unknown , still there some hints that he might like her in the future .] |
