After watching Episode 25 of FMA spoiler[and seeing Hughes die], I was left with the idea that this episode would have been a perfect ending point for the season. It would have made for a decent cliffhanger, which American TV viewers are so used to by now.

I know that the second season is coming in September and that it only has 25 episodes, so they could have just tacked on Episode 26 at the beginning of next season. Any ideas why Adult Swim chose not to do this?

I hosestly think it is because GitS SAC has 26 episodes. If they didn't show FMA 26 next week, then they'd have to repeat a FMA episode or find something else to stick into FMA's slot for just that week. So they'll air FMA 26 and then when they get to the end of the "second season" in the fall, they'll probably just re-run Ep 1 when GitS 2nd Gig airs its Ep 26. That or they'll have something to else to stick in at that point or they may start GitS 2nd Gig up a week early.

No idea what they're thinking for sure, other than I think they figure airing FMA 26 will cause less complaints than not showing it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

probably because the next season for anime in general ends at 26 so that's a suitable break point.

Good point, but after watching the ep. last week I was tearing my hair out because I thought for sure Ep. 25 would be the last episode, meaning the info I got previously was wrong ( http://www.binaryculture.net/news/2005/EEEklFluVZCMXYMbcE.php ). Now I can breathe easier.

Well as goofy as Adult Swim is with its programming I wasn't for sure they would play Ep 26 of FMA until they actually posted the schedule and that didn't happen until this last weekend Confused.

BTW, AS put a clip for FMA 26, if anyone is interested in seeing it. It's in Real Media format and those wishing to view it can access it in the Clips section off the main page of Adult Swim.com http://www.adultswim.com.

I think because they wanted to split the show up into seasons so that Funimation could really get their money's worth on FMA. They're wetting our appetites, and believe the real story hasn't really even started yet. It does soon though^^.
