i just recently began getting into the universal century of the gundam series i just got 08th ms team, 0080, 0083, chars counterattack, and f91 and i want to get the original gundam with amuro and the rx-78 but getting all ten volumes would be expensive so im wondering if the three theatrical movies re-tell all 10 dvds? and if so is it just as good? or are the 10 dvds better? i just got volume one and I've seen the first episode and i liked it. just wondering what what ur guy´s input is. is zeta gundam any good?

Yes. By all means yes. In all honesty, it's one of the better Gundam titles by a large stretch. Strong characters, an interesting story, great action, and what is in my opinion the best Gundam villain of them all in Haman Khan. As for the Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy, it's better in some ways and worse in others. Many subplots were re-written to flow much better in the movies, such as the attention given to Newtypes. But then there were other subplots, like spoiler[Mirai's brief relationship with Sleggar Law,] that are stunted and come off extremely underdeveloped & choppy. The main story remains basically unchanged, but a few minor details were altered and, as stated, most of the subplots were either improved or worsened by the series being condensed into movie form. All in all, I'd say the TV series and movies are each about as good as the other, and the movies are considered to be the canon telling anyway. |

Considering I got the DVDs for about $11 a piece and I had to Import from America, I'd say that they're quite cheap.
As for TV Series VS. Movies...the TV Series has a whole bunch of really charming little moments that were mercilessly slashed from the Movies. Though it doesn't focus on the Newtype aspect so much and that's the real theme of the Series.
But Haman isn't really the Big Zeta Villain. Though none of the others can really claim that title for themselves.
It was like that in the TV Series too. |

A factor to consider is if you prefer subs or dubs since the tv version is dub only and the films are 5.1 subs only. I really like the audio mixing in the trilogy, as well as the new animation. Lots of the fights from the series seemed tedious, although it is odd how Ma Kube disappears in the films. Most of the rather silly looking MAs and Gundam parts (toys) are also eliminated for the films. I also prefer the heavier emphases on Newtypes. Over all the films feel more mature, than the series.
Zeta is amazing, but rather than starting a new thread, check out one of the many existing threads. |

I'd rather associate her with Zeta (and to a lesser extent, Char's Deleted Affair) than Double Zeta. Besides, it's not so much that she was the main villain for the entire series, but rather took over the second half from the Titans (with Scirocco's group being the exception) once Axis started owning the crap out of them left and right. |

i personnally preferred the TV-show over the movie trilogy.
Although the TV-show was a dub (i prefer sub most of the time), it had greater depth into the story. In the trilogy, some things were changed spoiler[like the fact that the guntank was replaced by a guncannon while this doesn't happen in the TV-show. Something of the biggest differences was that in the movie, they were babbling alot about Newtypes while this wasn't such a big issue in the tv-show. There the newtype thing popped up later on in the show, while in the movies, they almost started immediatelly talking about it.] |

The English Dub is very, very good...although some of the lines are delivered awkwardly. Otherwise, it's great. The best "regular" Voices are Char Aznable & Kai Shiden. The Black Tri-Stars get an honourable mention too.
And apparently Sayla's part sounds too old for her, but I don't see that...
You must respect the Daifighter & Daitank Gundam!
But I liked Emotional Depth Haman...even though she thought nothing of Mashymre. Poor guy. And you should check out Super Robot Wars Destiny if you're a big fan of Haman. |

so they both have their good and bad but the movies focus more on newtypes. i dont order dvds off the internet so depending on what i find at my local retailers ill either end up with the trilogy or the tv series. as for zeta i read somewhere they are going to be released so i cant wait. i know the box set is already out but due to its expensive price and pencil sharpeners i dont much care for ill wait for their individual releases. thanks for your help. peace
