CHRIST! is this an anime? or a public service announcement.
i swear this seems like it was made to be some kind of ad campaign in Japan. i mean granted the show isn't horrible by any means, in fact it's one of the most visually impressive animes i've seen in long time... it's just that the enviormental hoo ha gets soooooooo freaking annoying.
they just push their point across to the extent where it's almost impossible to watch. at first it isn't so bad, but as it goes on it just gets worse and worse with each episode. at least when "Mononoke Hime" did it, it wasn't this blatant.

that's my two cents Wink

what did you guys think of this one?

Damn you got there first,I used to love that show when I was younger.Every week they were either using their super powers to put out a forest fire,or catch some guys dumping toxic waste.

As for Arjuna I haven't actually watched that much of it but from what I have seen I agree the whole enviromental theme is slapped on a bit heavy but the shows still pretty decent.

Apart from episode 7 (I think) which gets so sickeningly tree-hugging it makes me heave, the rest of the series is pretty good. Granted there's a heavy-handed environmental message throughout, but if you take it with a grain of salt it's really not that bad.

Are people so apathetic they get sick from hearing about how our environment is terrible?

I applaud the fact it is the main factor because not enough things question concepts like that so oh well I like the show.

there's a big difference between adressing a cause, and taking it to extremes.
like i said before, Mononoke Hime is pretty much selling the same message but it's done without being preachy and i admire that, but when a girl goes into a fast food restaurant and starts crying over a hamburger, you have to wonder if maybe the message is being taken a bit overboard.

i'm really liking this cartoon a lot, i just think they tend to overdo it a bit.
but like dan said, a lot of it can be taken with a grain of salt.

I honnestly didn't like it at all, and that's rare for me. I barely made it through the first volume, and I now avoid it at all costs. It's not only because they're shoving 'save the earth' down the viewers throat that I dislike it so much, the only character that seemed somewhat likeable was the boyfriend, and most of the situations aren't plausible (they threw a kid out of a helicopter and he was fine!). The only thing that I found enjoyable about this series was the animation.

On a side note, the owner of the local anime store tried to get me to rent Arjuna by saying it was cool, and dark, and had lots of action and blood, and had good music too.

Apart from the fact that the review for Arjuna 4 is pretty inaccurate _factually_ (Episode 13, The Here and Now, is NOT the previously unaired episode. Epiosde 9, Before Birth, was cut by the TV Tokyo censors. And it's Tokio at the end of the series saying itadekimasu or whatever it is ^_^;) it's pretty good on the actual presentation of the series and all ^_^

You know what, you're right. That's what I get for writing reviews late at night.

I'll go fix it. Thanks.

hmmm... I usually don't read the reviews posted here at ANN, but since someone posted the link for arjuna's review as part of this discussion--I actually read it. Shocked

The Answerman's review certainly got me interested in this title. And I guess I'll be more actively looking for deals for this series on ebay. Laughing

My only question is how this series compare to Princess Mononoke in terms of music, story telling, animation?
