Is there a reason the mods just delete so many posts?

Most boards give you some sort of feedback when they have to modify or delete your posts, but this board has mods that just go around deleting whatever they happen to come across whenever they feel like it while rarely giving any notice about why or when they deleted it. Is there some reason why this board has special mods that never feel the desire to explain what they're up to?

Yeah, it's obviously your site and you can do as you please, but there's a reason most boards provide some feedback when they delete posts. It promotes respect and helps to build a rapport between the mods and the user community instead of just creating the sort of dysfunctional parent-child dynamic that seems to be going on here.

Edited to add that this thread should probably have gone in another forum (teh rules?). Oh well.

Yes, because I have other things I'd rather do with my time than fill out upwards of 15-50 PMs per day reminding people (some for the 12th time it seems) that we have rules against bad grammar, mindless listing, requesting & posting downloads, and backseat moderating. Rather, I'd like to trust that if your post was deleted, you're smart enough to glance back over the rules and figure out for yourself why it happened.

For repeat offenders or certain overt cases, I will go through the big elaborate process of warning the person in the thread, locking the thread/deleting the post, and sending out a nice little PM reminding them to do something they should've already done when they first joined. But not in all cases, because I really shouldn't have to.
