Can anyone name a fighting manga other then Berserk or Bastard with a fair amount of both gore and fanservice in which both of these features are carried over to the anime version?

English would be licensed and Japanese would be non-licensed. For example you don't see Ichi the Killer over here but it is pretty gory and and does have some fanservice. It has been adapted to a live action movie, though. Check out Battle Royale, now that's a bad-ass manga.

Berserk has no fanservice. Don't misuse the term. Fanservice is beneath Berserk.

Yeah Berserk really doesnt have any fanservice its above that in which any nudity or sex is totally towards the plot.

I cringe to rec it, but Gantz fits the description pretty well. This is the fairly obvious choice, but perhaps not the best.

Why not? Gantz is an excellent series; one of the best.

Battle Royale has a lot of violence (a LOT), fighting, and nudity as well (although not particularly fanservicey). The art style is really unappealing to some people though.

Nudity? Not just nudity, but how about sex as well? Like when Mitsuko is [expletive] Takizawa while he's got a bullet wound in his gut and he's bleeding to death, and then she stabs him in the neck with that scythe of hers. Course I don't think I would mind dying that way. I would think BR has a little fanservice here and there. I find some of those deaths thrilling.

And there is alot of fanservice in the sense of panty shots and cleavage.
Fighterholic, I'd mind dying that way... although I'd like to try that with a girl that looked like Mitsuko in a situation that didn't involve me shot in the gut and my throat being slit during intercourse... I might want her to wait until after I'm done
I thought that the Gantz manga was supposed to be great and the anime is what's not normally recommended to people?
I suggest looking through you local store and checking the shrink-wrapped titles, maybe you can't read them then and there but you can write down the name and look it up here on ANN or any other site.

1) Er...BR's fanservice was a bit more than what you describe...heh...
2) Gantz is great. The anime is disappointing. The manga is wonderful, though.

I personally like the art style of Battle Royale, but I have friends who simply cannot stand it (too realistic for their tastes, I'm guessing). BR has an art style unlike any other I have seen, and also one of the most realistic (with the exception of the hair...). For many people, it is vastly different from what they have been seeing (Shonen Jump stuff, fluffy shoujo stuff, etc.). I guess it is partially the realism that drives them away; people seem to prefer art with rediculously disproportioned bishoujo and bishounen.

It reminds me a lot of that scene in Bible Black where the guy (Minase, I think) gets stabbed by the girl (the blonde one with curls), and then the girl does [explicit things]. It looked pretty painful; I don't think that guy enjoyed it one bit.
I have read Gantz, and I enjoyed it until all the main characters were killed except Kurono. Despite that, I read on and it then picked itself up with a whole new set of characters. Seems like the author got sick of the old cast.
I heard the anime was disappointing though.

Well, what I decribed, plus titties. "Everything" is "whited out", the vagina and penis are removed from every scene where they should be depicted. I think of it as soft-core porn, which is really nothing more than "fanservice".

Basically they do that with the Young manga series, be it Young Jump, Young Sunday, Young Magazine, or Young Champion. Them "whiting" it out is what keeps it from being a hentai manga. That's the only thing required.
