Wow I didn't think the manga would end this quickly but still its one of my top ten reads anybody have any thought opinions on the ending on how After Light gets shot Ryuk writes Lights name in the death note Also I found it sad how light always the cool calm collected one went insane at the end and was begging for mercy from Ryuk oh well I guess it was inevenatible that Light was going to die.....

i just finished it and i'd have to say that it was a pretty decent conclusion, i mean that's really the only way it could have ended. there's a couple of loose ends i would have liked to have seen tied up though, like what's gonna happen to Misa? i mean it's obvious she's going to die soon.

unfortunately no, the last chapters are pretty much dialogue driven.
EDIT actually it looks like there's still one more chapter left, so something interesting could still happen. that or we at least get an epilogue.

108 is out...It's finally over, 12 volumes. The ending sucks.
Light's family doesn't appear. The world returns to normal (Impossible!). Near becomes the new L and inherits Mello's love of chocolate. Mikami goes insane and dies in prison...but Matsuda theorizes that Near killed him with the Death Note, writing his name before the meeting to ensure that he can't test the fake Note. The last thing we see is a Kira cult with a girl praying to Kira in the center of it...She looks suspiciously like Misa...and that's the end.
Death Note chapters 1-59 were amazing. 60-102 were very good. 103-108 were utter drivel.

i agree, that ending sucked. i would've been more happy if it had just ended at 107

Personally I did think that 107 was much stronger than 108, but I don't think it necessarily sucked. I really liked the last few pages with Misa leading Light's "funeral procession," and the last page of her looking up at the moon with an purity about her. Kinda makes you wonder if Kira could have made the world a better place after all. I wasn't so sure about the first part with Matsuda's theories about Near though. Seemed like a weak way to convince the reader that Light was the victim.
As for all the loose ends, well, to be honest I was happier that the author didn't try to tie up everything. I despise overly-resolved endings. They don't give you anything to think about.

That...wasn't Misa leading Light's funeral procession. That was a group of Kira followers meeting in secret to worship Kira. The girl may or may not have been Misa. Regardless, she lost her memory...No one aside from the people in the room when Light died knows who Kira really was.

Hmm, you have a point. Jog my memory, but when did Misa last lose her memory? I don't recall the specific scene: last thing I remember her doing in the story was routine "Judgement" for Light. In any case, though, I really doubt the author would just throw a random girl at the last scene. It seemed way too significant to me for her to be just another Kira worshipper. Besides, she looked almost exactly like Misa, considering a one year gap.

She last lost her memory when Mikami got the Death Note. Light had her forfeit her ownership and mail the Note to Mikami.
