It shouldn't be too much longer since there are only 16 episodes left in the series.

Dude, that's a dude, dude. Japanese stereotypes of homosexuals, much like here, are of them being highly effeminate. And given how anime males tend to look feminine to begin with, gay anime males tend to look and act extra girlish.

All the same, though, Jakotsu's a guy.

There seems to always be one in a motley group of warriors. He reminded me of Nuriko who was also played by a woman. Sakamoto is famous for plaing bratty kids like Mei from Totoro. The same goes for Kamatari in Shisho's gang from Kenshin. The voice actress for Kamatari also is the voice of Naruto. I'm trying to think of other bands of 7-10 that have that stereotypical character since I'm sure there are more.

The most convincing anime gay guy was that dude with a scyth, the member of the Jupungatona ( spelling a bit off) from Rurouni Kenshin. Very scary. Very Happy

I don't know why the artists/authors do this but in most animes/mangas there seems to be one of these girl looking guys that confuses some people. One I remember right now is Haku from Naruto. My friend who watched an episode with him thought it was a girl and was freaked out when I told him the truth. I now laugh whenever I see a new one of these (dunno exactly what to call them lol)

That would be Kamatari: The Large Sythe.

hehe, krylancelo, I'm one of those guys who got totally confused into thinking Haku was a girl (I'm convinced it's his voice since i'm normally pretty good about being tricked)(also, once I know a character is a guy I get a little defensive of the char whenever someone confuses them for a girl, though I know I'm being a hypocrite Embarassed ). Yah, Jakotsu is a guy for sure, but here's how I think they create those really really flaming gay characters:

1.) desgin show with a female character
2.) find a female voice actor
3.) decide they want her to be a him because two writers from different shows got into a drunken fight and flipped a coin, the loser had to make their favorite character a flaming homosexual
4.) get a male voice actor that sounds completely different
5.) change a few pronouns
6.) release episode

so it's Kamatari: The Large Sythe, thanks. I think selenta is right, I think they just made a girl character and gave that character a male voice. Its just so convincing.

Yes, Jyakotsu was a gay man, but it was just plain funny to hear him talk about Inuyasha. i also know that being gay is not viewed as a particularly bad thing in japan, or so i think. another gay character is the Dutch guy from ep. 5(?) of Samurai Champloo.

Also, Kamatari's namer is a pun of the word Kama, meaning scythe, and Okama, slang for homosexual.
