I was too tired and sick to screencap or copy the URLs involved, but I too got hit by a pop-up on ANN today. I'm guessing it's the same one Dargonxtc had, but I can't remember.
Edit: It happened again. Took a screenshot this time. Ok I can confirm that was the source code that mylene has a screen capture of.[EDIT--actually its the one that is offering a playstation or an xbox, or a computer. For some reason I thought thats what she captured] That ad is particually annoying as it has sound and is really loud. Also its a pop-under so I don't realize its there and scares the S*** out me everytime.
It happend to me again just now, but before I could close it it went to another pop-up. Not sure how to do a screen capture. here is the source code for that, although I am not sure you can do anything about that one. [edit: don't need this -t] |

At this point, I've had it happen 4 or 5 times, often with a different item being advertised (computers, dating, etc), but all with the same image style, format, pop-under design, etc. But thankfully, I have had my speakers off recently, so I haven't noticed any noise. I've run my anti-virus, my anti-spyware software, etc, and have come up clean, so I don't think it's my system. Also, Dargonxtc, to make a screen cap, just click the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. Then open up an image editing program (Microsoft Paint will work), copy in the image, save, upload...you're good to go. That should work. |

You don't have to look for a file at all. Just go to Paint, the click Edit, and Paste. The file isn't created until you save at that point. |

The ANN source will tell me what ad server is responsible for this. On top of our in house ads, we have 3 outside networks serving a few ads, Google, and 2 others. None of them are supposed to be serving pops. -t |

It was NOT activated by a click to a link or something. Two pop-ups, both from BuyCheapAdvertising.com, popped up when I CLICKED THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON TO THE ENCYCLOPEDIA SEARCH BOX. Couldn't believe it was activated this way.

I was on the egosearch page, and I clicked The Anime Network Forum Index link that is on the top of the list. A popup came up, I had to close it real quick though because I saw it was trying to open a bunch more Popups, sorry, no screenshot. Thankfully my blocker got most of those. I did see it had something to do with XBOX 360.

I've been noticing recently that Firefox puts up an "Firefox has blocked a pop-up" alert occasionally when I browse to ANN. I don't think it was any of the ones mentioned previously; it only appears when the "get a merchant account -- accept credit cards" banner ad is up.
