Angel Links?! ANGEL LINKS?!?

But... But.. But....

WHY?!?!??! Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

On the other hand, this DOES probably mean that they also have the license to Outlaw Star, which is good.

But still.... ANGEL LINKS?!?!? Mad

Somehow it feels like feels like Funimation got some of these shows cheap. Since some of them have been out for over a decade and have a quite a few of copies still out there on the market.

Kinda weird that they get the spinoff, yet no Outlaw Star.

Also had to double check that Passage of the Stars bit. Thought it was something completely new. But turned out to be the prequel episode to Crest of the Stars that Bandai put on the final disc of Banner of the Stars II.

They did say at the Sunrise panel that more license rescues would be announced at the FUNimation panel, so they'll probably announced Outlaw Star there.

Don't care what anyone says. Code Geass had an awesome dub. I admit, mains JYB, Kate Higgins, Karen Strassman and Yuri Lowenthal were NOT the strongest and that scientist chick had a terrible voice, as well as the girls, but the sides were awesome. Jamieson Price is called the English Joji Nakata for a reason. He steals the show, when he's speaking. Every word, every line is perfect. Crispin Freeman as Jeremiah was excellent and sounds exactly like Ken Narita. Blum as Todo is amazing and has great delivery. Cornelia is fantastic, as well as Charles, Schneziel in Troy Baker's early LA career, Villeta, Lloyd, etc. Also, the script is generally a 1:1, with some changes to suit the English language, but overall it's an A- dub. R2's is even better. Hope Funimation doesn't redub the show.

It should be mentioned that Funimation has the new Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVAs too.

Which gives them the chance to put more of their own voice actors in there, since the characters are mostly new. So far, outside of Suzaku and C.C. nobody else from the original show is expected to appear.

That said, I really wouldn't expect them to release it until several months after episode 2 is out, unless they plan to follow the Ghost in the Shell: Arise model or something along those lines.

Beyond this, I'm definitely very happy about the rest of the licensing news.

I would LOVE a dub for Tales of the Abyss! I like both the English and Japanese cast, but it would be nice to have both options.

Also psyched for some of the other series listed. There's a lot of Bandai shows I enjoyed but never had a chance to pick up.

This is my takeaway from this news:

Tales of the Abyss is getting a dub.

Funi has Outlaw Star.

Er....they haven't said that they did. They got Angel Links, which is a spin off of Outlaw Star.

OK, I guess I'll have to connect the dots. Why would they get the spinoff without getting the more popular original? This all but screams "Funimation has Outlaw Star". But I guess we will have to wait for official word on that.

Concerning that particular property, I'd be happy if they ever had the opportunity to release Banner of the Stars III, but that might be asking for too much too soon.

I was trying to imply that you shouldn't assume until they say otherwise.

Really glad that Crest/Banner of the Stars got rescued. That's a notable hole in my collection that I still need to fill.
