Hi....sorry if I shouldn't have posted this here.....I searched through the pages but couldn't find what I was looking for.
I'm looking for some good vampire manga. If anyone knows any could you please describe the plot and give me the title? Thanks! Last edited by perkyrainbow on Sat Oct 28, 2006 10:49 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I can only think of
Hellsing: http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/preview.php?theid=12-871 You can preview the manga on that page and also read what is about, I haven't read the manga I just watched the anime. Other than that I can only think of Suehiro Maruo's Warau Kyuketsuki (this one is certainly not for younger manga fans) |

I strongly recommend "Vampire Doll" -it's a hilarious tale with a touch of action and cuteness about a vampire lord being resurrected as a female by a vampire hunter who has a thing for magical girls, but there are certain occasions where he can revert back to his male self. As whacky as the whole thing sounds, it's pretty damn good and I can't wait for the release of the second volume.

I'd also recommend the Hellsing manga if you want a lot of action and really good art (especially as the series progresses). The story-line is pretty interesting (nazi vampires!). So far seven volumes have been released over here in North America. It is my favourite vampire manga.

I recommend Vampire Game if you want something with less violence and some comedy.
Hellsing is definitely a more mature (content-wise) vampire manga, but you need to be willing to wait a while between volumes. The English language release has caught up to the Japanese release, which comes out pretty slowly, so we are looking 12+ months between new volumes now.
Do you mean you are looking for manga aimed at that age range or you consider manga aimed at that age range "childish"? And if its the latter, do you mean the Japanese target age or the American (or whereever you are) age range? Because a good chunk of the stuff aimed at that age range in Japan could hardly be considered childish. A good chunk of it is either sexually explicit or very violent, and some can be downright depressing. Stuff like Ceres: Celestial Legend and Angel Sanctuary were probably aimed at that age range (among others) in Japan and those two titles are far from childish. |

Rats, I would have said Higanjima but it's not one to come up in the encyclopedia yet. Very mature and vampires, but there's even more night creatures than just vampires in it too. Other problem is they haven't brought it out over here yet, and I don't know if you can speak Japanese or not, but this is my recommendation.

I guess I didn't word that very well. Like you said-- Ayashi no ceres and angel sanctuary are not childish. I want to read something that is more mature. For example: B.B. Explosion is a very light-hearted manga. It is about a 13 year old girl who wants to be singer. Very young girl dreamish-- does that make sense? Has no violence nor nudity-- nothing bad. But Ayashi No Ceres has nudity, is violent, and has suggestive themes. I don't really want to read something that has unicorns and pengiuns, does that make sense? I'm in no way saying I don't like girly-light hearted manga. I enjoy reading those too! I just want to read something more mature-- more edgy! I'm looking for something different. i'm sorry if you took my comment the wrong away, I wasn't trying to offend anyone. Just trying to explain what I was looking for.
Also thank you everyone for posting some ideas-- I'll look into them.

Another title you may want to look into is Lament of the Lamb by Kei Toume. It's seven volumes long, and the entire series is available in English from Tokyopop. The series itself takes a different look on vampirism, and it is very well thought out.

Don't assume that the manga will be of the same quality as the anime. And it seems like a lot more people dislike the Trinity Blood anime than like it to begin with. |

Well, there is a going to be a new Vampire title out by the creator of Ouran High School Host Club, called Millenium Snow. I don't know much out about it, but I'm sure there's some info on it on Wikipedia.
EDIT: Oh, I didn't know you wanted something "edgy", I guess I didn't help you out that much 'cause I reckon this will be Shojo. |

I would definitely recommend picking this title up (Lament of the Lamb). It's very character driven series. It treats vampirism as a deadly illness and gives a realistic perspective on the situation, as oppose to someone who turn into a vampire and fight crime or something. It's a really good story that explores deep human emotion about feeling indifferent from the world as well as family and friends. Not much action, but it's though-provoking. A very underrated title over here in the states. Lament of the Lamb > Hellsing any day, not that hellsing is bad (nor is it great), it's just overrated Last edited by darkhunter on Mon Nov 13, 2006 6:44 am; edited 2 times in total |

Well, that's a surprise... it's nice to have you back. Ya, I did notice you left. See? I even questioned about it. I did care that you left... despite what you may think... |
