no, japan doesn't have a very diverse naming convention(e.g. count all the makotos in japanese media) kurogane and shirogane is very popular, and naoto is a popular male name choosen only to hide the fact that shirogane was female. they're just both popular names for males(who wouldn't want to be called something that translates to "sincere black steel"?) that's why we get characters with names like ragna the bloodedge, accelerator and black rock shooter ect. |
