I do wonder what the reception for him will be if MN9 is just destroyed by reviewers and players alike.

Yeah, after that "Anime fans on Prom Night" joke in the recent MN9 trailer, I think an anime convention is the last place he wants to be right now.

Keiji: First question!
Fan: Yeah what happened to all those ideas you said you had that Capcom was holding under water?
Keiji: This panel is over.

At least we got Gunvolt.

Shows up a week late, I bet. Asks for fans to crowdfund a new convention for him. Then in the middle of that campaign, flies out to a different con entirely.

I wonder what will be the biggest tinderbox, 4th of July fireworks or his appearance at the convention? MN9 is going to disappoint, and I can't see this ending well.

I totally see him getting pelted with eggs and tomatoes.

"Prom night, huh?"

Dear god I just watched the trailer, just from a marketing stand point insulting possible buyers of your product is honestly mind blowing.
I really wonder how his visit to Anime Expo will go.

Edit: I know this trailer was probably out of Inafune's hands, I still think it's pretty embarrassing for him since it is his game project.

Yeah the trailer was outsourced, and they have already switched companies for a better trailer.

Well that's some good news in this mess, thanks!

Looking at it "Deep Silver" did the trailer if I'm correct right? And it seems weird looking at their wikipedia page they are publishing "The King Of Fights XIV" in Europe, it's obviously a Japanese game with an anime style and appeal....so why would Deep Silver take a jab at anime fans? I understand it was meant in jest supposedly, it still comes across as a joke with incredibly poor taste made towards the wrong audience, instead it was made at the expense of part of their demographic.

Be aware guys that this is Inafune's 3rd year at AX, and wow, I wouldn't think they would bring him again, I mean, it was fine with just Igarashi, but with both of them in the same event, I wonder how it'll go with the both of them.

But yeah, all the problems of MN9 up until now (and since its actually releasing) has been...well...yeah.

Either way, we'll see how the reactions towards Inafune at AX would go by, if at all.

I would not appear there if I was him. The numerous delays that the game being said main reason. It's especially the cast that he and his team promised no more delays and they failed to keep that promise.

Well, to be fair, he wasn't the one who made that line.

I thought it was funny though, the kind of self-mocking humor I tend to enjoy. Not a smart move when it comes to marketing, as I've seen past cases of marketing failures due to putting a product's intended audience in a negative light (like the Toyota minivan commercials with the snobby arrogant boy), but it didn't affect me opinionally in any way.
