I'm just going to edit my old topic. (Newest question first)
Ok, I have some issues of a title called Chronowar written by Kazumasa Takayama. I thought it wasn't in the encyclopedia until I looked up the author and it seems it is. It's this title: manga#7776 It was released in the states in 1996 from Dark Horse as the title Chronowar. From what I can tell there are only single issues and no collected version. http://www.darkhorse.com/search/search.php?sstring=Kazumasa+Takayama&match=all&scope=products ---------------------------------------- I have one volume of a few volumes of the title Samurai Crusader published by VIZ in 1997. I can't seem to find it in the encyclopedia, neither can I find it's author Hiroi Oji. The artist is Ryoichi Ikegami. I have this volume: http://www.amazon.com/Samurai-Crusader-Sunrise-Shanghai-Graphic/dp/1569312362 But there are other volumes: http://www.amazon.com/Samurai-Crusader-Kumomaru-Chronicles/dp/1569311307 http://www.amazon.com/Samurai-Crusader-Way-Dragon/dp/1569311641 It's also not listed under Ikegami's works so, I'm at a loss. Perhaps, it can be added? Last edited by Brand on Thu Jan 17, 2008 8:28 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Because no one has submitted or even mentioned it until today.
Apparently VIZ's translator ten years ago couldn't tell family name from given name (the old days of flipped manga...). The author was Ōji Hiroi (広井 王子), famous for creating Sakura Taisen video games on Sega systems.
When I first saw "Samurai Crusader" on the thread title I thought, "another lame translation of whatever title about ancient Japan and whatnot," but seeing those two big names I immediately remembered the only manga title those two had cooperated: Ōritsuin Kumomaru no Shōgai (王立院雲丸の生涯), a somewhat spoiler[steampunk] story (spoiler[I remember a robot similar to one appeared in Medical Inspection Bureau of GUNNM]) about a talented Japanese man in China in early 20th century.
Done. OT question: why did you buy the third volume first? |

I didn't realize it at the time it was the third volume it's not marked as so. (As many manga titles were done in the past to make it look like a complete story in a volume). It wasn't until I looked it up on amazon that I realized there were other volumes to the series.
I work in a comic book shop part time, and it was one of the volumes in the $5 dollar manga box and I love Ryoichi Ikegami's art so I bought it. Also thank you very much for the help. |

Done. However, the correct way of doing it would be: 1) enter the correct North American English title as an alternative title, then 2) use the NA license thread to inform us so we can change the main title to the NA English one. Bumping one's own thread is discouraged.
At the first glance of your post I didn't realize what you meant, but after accessing the link you provided I noticed two things just weren't right: 1) Why are there nine volumes? 2) The coloring of some volumes, especially #6 and #8, were distinctive American comic style. Then I realized those were chapter by chapter, unbound by Dark Horse Comics. Those covers of later volumes were black and white title pages of each chapter colored by DHC. |
