I think I remember his pre-teen aged daughter being a big fan, so hopefully this is more a case of someone just trying to get cool dad points and accepting scale for what amounts to essentially a cameo role. I'm doubtful, but it's not really a great look otherwise considering I doubt anyone else in the main cast is making more than SAG-AFTRA dubbing scale...
And as much as I will rag on CR, it is worth noting Demon Slayer's dubs are handled through Aniplex of America & it has always been a union franchise. CR is pretty much only involved on the distribution side of things (not that there can't still be a massive pay discrepancy on a fully-union project obv, it happens literally all the time). |

That's pretty cool, from what I remember Channing has some voice acting before in works such as The LEGO Movie, Smallfoot and America: the motion picture. Don't know if this is the first theatrical released anime movie distributed by Sony and Crunchyroll with a Startalent in its cast. I mean, the most recent example I can remember of a startalent in a CR anime dub is J. Balbin who had a role in Solo Leveling both in English and Neutral Spanish, and also Blue Lock's Neutral Spanish dub had two famous Mexican soccer commentators voicing, well, two commentators in the anime.
Don't know if Sony/Crunchyroll will try to replicate Channing's inclusion in other dubs, I mean with local celebrities.
So all international Demon Slayer's dubs are handled directly by Aniplex? That kind of makes sense |

So... here's a rhetorical question: Was he paid the same as everyone else? More importantly, was everyone else paid more? I already know the answer to both questions is a hard NO, so that's great. Very cool. Not embarrassing in the slightest. Thanks, Aniplex (and Tatum's daughter, I guess)...

On the one hand - https://youtu.be/VaOV3fNIYHs?si=SAGpBhW-WeFxMUcW
On the other, it’s not like he’s replacing anyone. I’m just surprised Aniplex sprung for him. |

Personally I don't see why this is such a bad thing. A Hollywood actor making more money than an English dub VA makes complete sense. Actors are paid proportionately to their popularity and how big of a draw they are and what they're worth. Unless he did it for free or something as a favor to his daughter I would expect him to be paid more to bother with dubbing an anime unless it's a Ghibli film which usually does celebrity stunt casting already. |

We live in such a strange timeline where a once indie voice actress like Kira Buckland and a high profile Hollywood actor like Channing Tatum are doing the same project together.

lol I still can't shake the feeling that his daughter asked me a question (I'm a Volunteer) at Anime Expo last year. The man she was with seemed so familiar, but I didn't think about it till after I learned he was there with his daughter.

Did the dub actors actually get paid well for this movie?

What's with all the weird passive aggressive comments about this?

Some people brought up CR's low payment and anti union controversy during Mob Pyscho S3, and also some fans and other VAs complains about celebrities being casted as a voice actor in anime or animated movies |

Whoa OK, I didn't expect this stunt casting let alone Demon Slayer. But getting Channing Tatum casted for this film is something I didn't expect.

I also found an animated production that featured both Cristina Vee and Charlie Adler in the same cast. I don't remember the title. I think it was a preschool show. |
