Would love for Iwaisawa to get the nod but I don't see that happening (imo CSM is the more likely token anime nomination that will then lose to KPop Demon Hunters). And based on the immediate reception to Scarlet (ranging from "worst film of the year" to "worse than live-action Snow White") that probably won't make the cut either; Hosoda might have a prior nomination, but I don't see the Academy holding his name in high enough regard where he gets in purely on name recognition

No ne zha 2?
Disappointing.
Kpop demon hunters will probably win by default because the Oscar’s judges “kids watched it”

Looking forward to seeing Kokuho, whenever that becomes available to watch with English subtitles (assuming it will, hopefully).

Somehow I hadn't heard of Dragon Heart before. Is it worth checking out any?

Depends if you are into cult propaganda or not.

It's part of a long running propaganda campaign for a cult, so no

They always favors K-slop since majority of K-stans demands it or they riot if they lose once.

From the article:
| Quote: | | Some of these films still need to play in at least one theater in one of six major American metropolitan areas for at least one week before December 31, to fully qualify for consideration. |
Unfortunately I think that removes 100 Meters from the running; I think GKIDS only played it for three days in North America. I’d be happy to see CSM being nominated, although I think with all the money it’s making, Demon Slayer is also likely to be that token anime nomination (I’d be less thrilled about that, though).
I’m honestly very surprised Ne Zha 2 wasn’t on the list; I heard somewhere it did better than KPDH. And no Housenka? Didn’t that win an award at Scotland Loves Anime?
With no Ne Zha 2, the win probably will ultimately be between KPDH or one of the Disney features (maybe Elio?)

Cho: GKids has Kokuho.
As for Ne Zha 2, it doesn't look like something the voters would go for, so I'm not surprised. But if anything would have been sent in for animated short, it should be Virgin Punk.

I'll be amazed if any of these even get a nomination.
The only one I think has a chance is Infinity Castle considering it's impressive box office success.

100 Meters would still qualify, it definitely played in all the 6 cities required. The week long run in those cities is only required for Best Picture.

It doesn't even mean any of these movies will be nominated, this is a list of "eligible for consideration" to be nominated out of 35 movies.

I haven't even watched K -Pop... but i think it's easily the winner of these, if only because the lead competition, Chainsaw and Tanjiro, require dependency on having watched their TV shows to actually appreciate.

What other time in history since the KPop fad took off in the U.S. the last decade has a K-pop related work been nominated for or won an Academy Award?
I also like the idea of griping about a non Disney or Pixar related work getting nominated after years of whining about Disney & Pixar related works getting nominated.

It wasn't submitted for nomination by its distributor

No, the week-long run is required for Best Animated too - but only 1 of the 6 cities is required

AFAIK no animated movie based on a TV series has ever been Oscar nominated
