Have you tried looking in that nice, convenient Encyclopdia that ANN's staff put together?
There's a link in the blue border on the left. |

Keep in mind that the Encyclopedia isn't always up-to-date. After all, it says that there are only six volumes to Full Metal Panic, but i know that there are atleast seven. As much as i'd like to click the "report an error" button to have that fixed, i'm holding off incase there's an 8th volume or more. |

36 is the ending spot... no more after that. |

Wow, that's a lot of trades to buy! So, is this one of the longest running mangas of all times? What other manga have gone beyond 30 volumes? |

Golgo 13 is now in the 130's I believe, and there's a manga in Shonen Jump that is in the 150's, but those are pretty rare. There aren't too many mangas that run longer than Ranma.

Detective Conan (er, "Case Closed") is 47 volumes and counting ... Yu-Gi-Oh is up to 38 ... Crayon Shin-Chan has 39 ... hmm, notice any trends here in the type of manga that runs super-long?

Yea, shonen mangas sometimes do drag on (Hajime no Ippo is in the 60's right now). Golgo is considered seinen though, which is unusual. Berserk is probobly going to go into the 40's or 50's too. There are a couple of very long running shojo mangas in Japan as well. It's definitally a change from the American comic scene, where the longest run a writter/artist had on a single comic was Cerebus. The production of those manga series mentioned is far diffrent from an indepenent comic however, and Dave Sim probobly had to put a ton more work into Cerebus (after all, seems to have driven him insane). |

I wouldn't call one of the most favorite websites among English-speaking anime fans for years (only to be beaten by ANN in 2003) "little," unless you are Cmdr. Thomas Riker.

Isn't thee some difference between the japanese and english release? I thought that the first few volumes of Ranma in english are longer than their japanese counterparts.
