Worth noting that Trigger is the studio Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Panty & Stocking) co-founded after leaving Gainax the other year, and that he worked on the intro to this game's predecessor, Namco x Capcom.

Also, very glad to see Reiji and Xiaomu drop in on this, as they rightfully should!

As noted in the Famitsu article, Akira Amemiya is the director for the opening sequence. via RollingPirahna

That makes sense, since Amemiya is Imaishi's protege. Although I'd be curious to know if Imaishi had nothing to do with the old NxC intro and it was just Amemiya/someone else after all, I've never seen an actual credit listing as it is.

Oh good, glad to know I'm not crazy (since it came up I was all searching around and realized I couldn't find an actual "source" for his work, in English anyway). Thanks for that.

This all adds up, then - pretty interesting to see some kind of animation lineage being carried through the intros of these games too.

Aw yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssss.

If anyone hasn't seen Hiroyuki Imaishi's mouthwatering opening for Namco x Capcom, do so here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eanxcTWC75A

It's too bad we probably won't get this game.

Good to see Trigger doing something. They have way too much talent there to just be helping with in-betweens/backgrounds.
