Official Thread Opening Comments:
Scamp opened a thread like this for the Spring when the chart was released. Here's the new chart to make of what you will. Anyone see a show they've been dying to have come out? Any shows people think are must-watch for some reason?

http://chartfag.wordpress.com/2010/05/18/summer-10/

And speaking of Scamp, he has a great blog post that includes trailers for seemingly everything.

Personal comments:
Unfortunately the theme of the season seems to be fan service. I'm not expecting a lot out of this batch, but I've gotta watch Shi Ki, since I'm a fan of Fuyumi Ono (Juuni Kokki).

...Suprisingly, not one anime on that list piqued my interest, whereas the fall list got me on half of it.

We shall see what additional info brings.

I'm going to check out Digimon: Xros Wars just to see if the franchise still has legs or not.

I enjoyed the first season of Sekirei so I'll watch the second as well.

Black Lagoon is a must watch for me, but I'll have to get used to the subs since I only saw the originals in dub.

I read some of the Highschool of the Dead manga so I'm somewhat interested to see how the anime turns out.

Other than that I might check out Nurarihyon no Mago just because I glanced at some images that caught my eye.

Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail comes on in July, but I think it is DVD release only.

Well, High School of the Dead, Seikimatsu Occult Academy, and Shiki have my interest so far and I'll give them a shot. Thisy're all supernatural stuff which I tend to dig. Then there's Sekirei: Pure Engagement as well, which is a sequel to the first season which was particularly enjoyable.

....and the Black Lagoon OVA too of course.

The rest don't sound particularly entertaining.

The Black Lagoon OAV is on my definite watch list. Otherwise, not so sure what I want to watch since a good chunk of the new shows are either fan service titles or sequels to shows I have yet to watch. From the look of things thus far by premise and sampling some trailers, I might also give Shiki, Occult Academy (though so far, Anime Chikara's past two works haven't done well to wow me) and Amagami SS a shot.

Watching Nurarihyon no Mago for sure (tried the manga when I heard about the announcement and got hooked), looking forward to checking out Seikimatsu Occult Gaiden (I seem to be on a supernatural kick these days), and I'll probably end up watching Kuroshitsuji II (there are worse things in the world than attractive looking guys and weak plots, well, depends on how weak the plot is I suppose).
Not too worried that it's only a few shows though, I've got plenty of older shows I want to see as well and summer/winter are the weaker seasons anyway.

Think they forgot to mention Black Rock Shooter(which was meant to be released this season but was delayed till July or something). It's just an OVA though. I'm not exactly looking forward to anything, while not completely discarding the option of seeing a really good anime coming. Sekirei is a meh; as I know what's to come and what the anime is good at. Strike Witches is another meh. I haven't seen season one, though I intend to, but don't hold any expectation(that is, since we're talking about 12-year-old girls, there is just a limit to how much fun I could have with this).

Won't say that this is worse than Winter, as Winter awarded me with lots of series I'm still stuck with(unlike Spring).

I also expect the new Lost Canvas to start during Summer season. If I'm right, it's gonna be just great.

Wow, it's been a while since I've seen a summer season with this much potential.

Madhouse almost always delivers, so I will definitely check out Highschool of the Dead. Shi Ki looks interesting, though I've never heard of the studio before. And I might have to watch Kuroshitsuji so I can watch the sequel.

The artwork of Tono to Issho has at least piqued my interest, though it looks bizarre. Then there's Amagami--which, if it can manage to avoid harem soap-opera drama, could be a lovely short-story type slice of life. Of course, my most anticipated is Ookamisan, which is obviously meant to be the next Toradora! considering the studio, character designs, description, etc. I hope it can live up to that legacy, but if it does I will be ecstatic.

Been meaning to check out Black Butler, and if I like it at least I will have season 2 if I like it. Have a gut feeling I will like Seabastian if nothing else. Wink Nothing else really grabs me this season, but I will be checking forums to make sure I am not missing anything that's a must see. Sometimes it's hard to judge based on appearences alone.

Awright, I was hoping somebody would start this thread.

Black Lagoon OVAs - The phrase "jonesing for" would not be out of place here. It will be weird watching the cast without the English dub voices I'm used to, but I'll manage, I'm sure.

Highschool of the Dead highly anticipated. Zombies in high school? Yeah, I'm there. Plus, it's done by Madhouse, so that bodes very well.

Seikirei: Pure Engagement is another must see for me. Really enjoyed the first season, so I hope this go-around is as fun.

Seikimatsu Occult Gaiden
has caught my eye, as well. That still image of the haughty looking chick sitting side saddle on that dude didn't hurt. I like supernatural themed shows and this one appears to be a comedy, as well.

I'll check out Shi Ki. It's one of those "mysterious goings on in a quiet town" deals so let's hope it rocks like When They Cry, not suck like Ōkamikakushi.

I'll try Nurarihyon no Mago, but I don't have any strong feelings either way about it right now.

I'm attracted to The Legend of Legendary Heroes by the goofy title alone. I'll sample it and if it doesn't blow, I'll watch to the end.

I'm always up for a school romance, so I hope Amagami SS is good. The focusing in on one girl per episode sort of reminds me of Hatsukoi Limited which I quite liked.

Ookamisan etc, etc.- sure, why not. Let's see what 2010's Taiga-esque entry is like.

Mitsudomoe - I can't say I'm salivating for this one, but I did enjoy Hanamaru Kindergarten, so if this is kind of in similar territory, it might be okay.

Asobi etc, etc. Hmm, even I've gotten tired of girls with cat ears (witness my dropping of Mayoi Neko Overrun!) but the girl in the still image looks very...spirited...so I'll give it the ole college try.

Seitokai Yaikuindomo - It's day jah voo all over again. I wasn't a big fan of Seitokai no Ichizon but I'm curious to see just how much this show is going to rip off Ichizon.

Shi Ki looks interesting although I don't much like the character designs. Still, it definitely sounds like something worth watching.

Other than that...yuck.

I guess Basara might be watchable, but hardly something I have an actual desire to pursue. I never bothered to watch the first season after all.

I guess it's to be expected that this season doesn't come close to the spring. We're only getting 18 TV series this time. To some extent that's normal though. From what I've seen, spring usually has the largest number of shows and summer the smallest. Still, if this season is any indication, we may see the number of shows continue to decline.

Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter = Total
2010: 34/18/??/?? = 104 (estimated based on usual trends)
2009: 42/23/29/23 = 117
2008: 40/25/48/25 = 138

Whoa there, buddy. This one only has three female council members, not four.

It's completely different! Laughing

Several of the shows do look interesting at least.
