Everytime my mom sees me watching an anime she thinks i'm still a kid because i'm highschool and I still watch cartoons. I know they are cartoons but I think of them to be something more. Oh well just wondering if you all are in the same situation as me.

Actually, I critisize anyone who doesn't watch animated series or films. Or hates them because they are animated.

It's not because the Lion King is aimed for children that adults shouldn't be able to enjoy it. Not to mention that that film is quality all over.

Maybe they don't want to. You can't force them to.

My parents and siblings are the only relatives who know I watch anime (or know what anime is). My mom, brother and sister don't care, but my dad always asks me "What series is this?" when he flips through the channels and DBZ or Adult Swim is on. The only series he knows is Pokemon, Tenchi and Gundam (only the titles for the latter two; Pokemon he knows when he sees it). He actually made me a birthday card one year with a Gundam on it!

I don't think so... but they must think I'm weird a bit...

I remember when the last volume of GUNGRAVE came out and I went with my mom and my relatives to BEST BUY

I was jumping all over the place along with the BEST BUY guy making a lot of noise since he was able to find a copy out of the warehouse

Well, the thing is, there are alot of artistically gifted and interested people in my family. Out of the 7 siblings that I've got (half brothers and sisters included) only 2 are not interested. So to say the least, there're alot of oppinions on these kind of things.

Speaking of which, my sister-in-law really hates everything animation. So we actually get in alot of debates everytime the subject comes up Laughing.

My parents used to but then I dragged them to the theatrical release of Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. They unded up loving it, and stopped giving me crap. Now they have me inform them whenever one comes out around the Minneapollis area so we can drive down and see them. I haven't had much luck with getting them to try many of my series though.

My dad is the only one who disapproves of my obsession in Anime. He will walk behind me and randomly start screaming in a sort of goku going super-saiyan kind of voice, then he begins his chinese impresson as he violently moves his mouth everywhere. Of course I don't watch DBZ anymore, but I still get crap for it.

Both my parents despise anime. They think it poisons my mind. My mom watch the episodes 25-26 of evangelion with me! And it was subbed. My mom was like, "These kids are schitzophrenic(i don't know if that's spelled right". And they make sarcastic comments that they can learn japanese from it and talk jibberish like they're talking japanese. It just makes me wanna scream!!!! The worst thing is they criticize it because it's japanese. My mom had the nerve to bring up World war 2!!!

My mom doesn't care unless I start talking to here about. Then she tells me that that I could be speaking a different language, she understands so little of what I am saying, but lets me keep going. My stepdad LOVES anime. My favourite is Hellsing, but he loves Coyboy Bebop and Vampire Hunter D. My baby sister, 8, loves what she has seen but has seen very little. My stepmom can't tell anime from The Simpsons but she still thinks that my obsession with the occult, especially vampires, is a phase. YEAH! A 16 year phase! And my dad just about hates everything about me, so it doesn't matter. He thinks thought that watching anime was immature, but then I convinced him to 'chaparone' my friend and I at Anime North in Toronto because there was no other way I could have gone, and he found out about hentai. Now he thinks that all anime is perverted. But this is the guy that said to me and anyone else wanting to get into the comic book/cartoon (manga/anime) industry "Do you know what the first words out of an art student's mouth are when they graduate? Do you want fries with that?" and to "Grow up and figure out the actual meaning of a dollar"... Meh... People hate what they do not understand and fear what they don't want to understand!

Poor guys

If my mom would so much as break the case of any of my items. She would have to pay it back. I got a nice DVD version when she broke my original VHS of Watership Down Wink.

My Mom doesn't like animation in general. This is due to her being the oldest of 7 children, and her Dad also liked cartoons, so because of that she doesn't like it (Don't ask why she's like that, its a personal thing)

Well, my mom watches most of the series I watch, although our preferences do differ a bit. Actually, she only really has access to whatever I'm watching since she can't stay up late enough to watch anything on TV, doesn't like the VCR (which happens to be my best friend... Wink ), and I'm the only one that owns anime DVDs. Anime catgrin + sweatdrop

My brother loves to annoy me about it, but he does watch a few series. He just doesn't watch much TV anymore. I know he liked Outlaw Star and I think he thought Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist were pretty good.

My dad, however, seems to be pretty much indifferent. I've tried to get him interested, he's seen a couple of episodes of Cowboy Bebop and Kenshin, plus he's seen one episode of Samurai Champloo and Rave Master. (Mostly because Mom & I were watching it off the TV and there was only one TV with cable.) He's also seen endless snippits of things from walking through the room, since is usually stops for a minute, watches a scene and then leaves. But he hasn't really expressed any interest in anything... the only thing he ever notices is when I charge his credit card. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

My parents don't seem to mind very much (but then again they live about 2000 miles away from me so I wouldn't know). But for the most part when people stop by to hang out with me (that don't watch anime themselves) they only tend to raise and eyebrow and go about what ever we were going to be doing - for the most part people in the 18-25 age bracket are fairly accepting of anime, but there are some that despise it for no particular reason.
