SAG and industry negotiators have tentatively agreed to a new basic cable animation contract that will raise residual payments by 20%, the union said Tuesday....The contract covers such shows as "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "The Boondocks" but also allows SAG to expand its jurisdiction by covering any animated production created by the signatory companies for basic cable. The past industry practice has been to rely on single-production contracts...

Will that translate into higher prices for older works, and for future works? While I don't begrudge them the money, I just hope it does not kill off this growing fan base.
