What exactly is an IP Address (and it's purpose)? I was told it's the computer you first register on.

No, actually it's unique to each internet connection. I've got three computers in my house connected to the internet via a router, all of them share the same external IP. And to answer the original question, it's essentially your address on the internet. Every computer connected to the internet has one. |
