Well, if you haven't noticed by the amount of new threads that aren't related to anime and the links he's posting I'll just mention this word of adive...DO NOT, I repeat do NOT click ANY of those links, if you do you will get banned from ANN and will have to send an e-mail to the staff to get unbanned. I hope the staff gets on to this person (who is also making diff accounts to do this) and if banning his IP doesn't work, to try and get his ISP to do something about it.

This is why you people should stop clicking on spam links and/or replying to those threads. Be it a person who is spamming or a spambot, all you should do is report the post and let the staff take care of it.

I'd ban you all for a week if I could for replying and backseat moderating those stupid things, but I don't have the ability. Let this be a lesson.

Yea, the first one he did mentioned a second season of Haruhi which I kind of figured to be false, but it could also have been a picture or something of Haruhi that was meant to as a parody, such as some of the other pics in the main thread, but it turned out to be much, much worse. This is more just a warning to those that might feel the urge to click one of the links cause I know it causes a lot of extra work for the staff at ANN. I've come up with a new rule of thumb for myself at least, not to click any link posted by someone with less than 50 posts -_-

I actually didn't know that it made more work for the Mods, and have posted twice to one of those threads, since we are on the subject I will just like to say sorry to all the Mods...and how do you report a thread that is spam.

And to be clear, before omar asks, if there is no exclamation, it means someone else has already reported the post.

It causes work in that they have to close the threads, ban the people who made the threads, unban those that clicked the link, and try to come up with a way to prevent it happening in the future. If it wasn't for the rules already in place, they'd have even more work to do than what they have currently. Think of it like this, if they didn't have the rule stating no list posts or to give your own feeling about the topics created, as well as no one liners that add nothing to the discussion, they would have even more needless stuff to sift through. For instance, let's say someone makes a list post that extends quite a while before it gets to the next post, that's that much extra scrolling that the mods have to do to get to the next post, which may or may not be a problematic post. It's the same thing with one-liners, if everyone was able to post one-liners (which I assume there is SOME leeway depending on what is being discussed or the previous post) and get away with it, that adds extra pages to a thread and loading those extra pages takes up more time. If there were only 15 reasonably good posts in a 70 post thread (the rest being one-liners) that would not only be a problem for their (voluntary) jobs (it's not like they all get paid to do this, but rather do it to help the community grow) but it would also be a problem for those that want to actually read those 15 posts and would take a lot of time for someone on, say a 56k connection, to actually view those posts.

Point I'm trying to get across is that everything extra that's unneeded causes them to lose time that they might want to use in more constructive ways. That's also probably why I've turned down being a forum mod at other places since, well, let's just say a community of people 14 and under that hold posting contests in which the posts have to be constructive is, well, any mod's nightmare.

Here's a link to a better example of their problems, posted by Tony K. himself animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28062

In my heart, I knew it couldn't be an authentic link (to a MoHS Season 2 trailer), but curiosity banned the cat, or so they say. I don't click on links for low-rate mortgages or hott zoosex, but I wanted to see what kind of dumb crap was going to show up. I didn't think there would be any adverse consequences Crying or Very sad, since I've got decent protection against viruses/spyware/adware. At least I didn't post on the thread.

It kind of reminds me of when SPIN or one of those music magazines ran a story about concert flashing (this was back in 2001 or 2002, I think) and how pictures from it showed up at places like "rockboobs.com". So, for "investigative purposes," I browsed on over to rockboobs.com, but I only got a message on a white screen saying "u are a pervert"; neither rock nor boobs were to be found Twisted Evil
