I know anything has its own game these days, but, is Captain Earth popular enough for a game? I honestly have no clue as to its popularity in Japan. I thought it wouldn't be that well-known.

From what little graphic pictures they showed. I suspect this is going to be a rom/com sort of date simulator game or something verse a action game that you would associate this genre of show to be.
Unless they left something out, I think its simulator type. Its properly cheaper to make while the show is in production, text and all verse having to drawn new animation and come up with actual game with flying robots smacking each other. I would like to be wrong and be able to play robot smacking game.

I don't think it is, no. The game was announced at the event yesterday and they said that an edited version of the event (which was absolutely HILARIOUS thanks to Koyama Rikiya) would be available as a download from the PlayStation Store, and the download code is a first release bonus for the game. The first thing that went through my head when they announced this was that they're using video of the event to help sell the game. And I did hear some girls on my way out saying that now they'll have to buy a Vita to get the game so they can get the event.
The event was held at a pretty large event hall (in Hachiouji which is so far away >__< ) and there were lots of empty seats. The event itself was very, very enjoyable though. You know you're in for some laughs when you get Kamiya, Miyu, and Suzu on the same stage, and when you add Rikiya san to that mix, there is bound to be chaos.
