Back in 2010 there was this announcment about Japanese publishers and how they planned to launch an American manga portal. I never heard of them again, though. Anybody knows what happened?

However, Crunchyroll picked up a lot of the JManga titles and made them available again (some are continuing to be simulpubbed even now), so check that out if you're interested.
