Almost every show aimed at little boys has a token girl character as one of the leads. I'm actually surprised Pretty Cure has gone nearly 15 years without the reverse. Based on this fake out, maybe it will go even longer.

A Male precure? In all the years I follow and Watch all seasons I didn't think about a male precure. I like the idea, why not?

Please change the Title and and state in the article that this is pure speculation until it is firmly established (with proof) that he is actually a Male Precure.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not buying it.

And I also would like a link to any official statement supporting a Cannon Yuri couple please. Being a children's show, I cannot really see them outright recognizing a official yuri couple, not when they STILL think lesbianism for young girls is still a "Phase" in youth they will grow out of.

I'm not hostile to any of this, but I'm skeptical as all heck.

I'm kinda amazed people are that freaked out (in a negative way) by the gender of a character in an animated show. Aren't we still in 2017?

Just imagine the outcry if Dragon Ball had female characters go Super Saiyan!

...no, wait, been there, done that, no outcry, lots of excitement. Caulifla and Kale are amazing, yo!
I would love a take on magical boys or mixed gender magical teams that was more serious than Cute High Boy Defense Club Love! Has anyone even tried it?

This anime is basically a self help guide on how to destroy your long running franchise. First, you get rid of the punching and kicking, now you introduce male Precure in a Magical Girl anime, this is not like Aikatsu, Idolmaster, or Pripara where male characters can be idols. They first killed the fun of the franchise and now they killed the point of the genre and the reason it exists.

Shugo Chara had magical boys in that series.

I 100% agree with you. I could have not said better myself. I bet these "fans" who are "happy" seeing a "male Precure" (NO official statement has been given about this issue, you "fans") love seeing franchises making foolish decisions and alienating real fans who want to keep the formula that makes it great in tact. Just look at Little Witch Academia TV anime. The producer tried to shove hetero romance down the fans' throats but the staff stopped him because it was not right for the series that is about witch girls doing witch stuff. I also bet these "fans" are waiting for Love Live to be just like Idolmaster: having its own Producer-san or a male love interest. The point is that pandering to everyone is not always a great idea. Series like LL, GuP, K-On!, and Kemono Friends are huge success even when they are not meant for everyone.

Another thing is that some people here are very happy to see a male Cure despite nothing official has been given about it (thanks, >ANN) and yet they ask for one when somebody brings up an "official" yuri couple. That is just ridiculous and pathetic, Just another proof that people do not take yuri seriously. If that is what they want for Precure, then I hope Precure will eventually make a canon yuri Cure couple first before making a canon male Cure.

FINALLY. No longer will this franchise be bogged down by sexism. Where's the gender equality and equal opportunity? If girls can become Kamen Riders, boys have every right to become Precure as well. In all seriousness though, to be fair, this is far from the first instance of a "male Precure", even if previous versions were just fantasy.

Never forget Cure Fire.

Yeah, you are right. Maybe we should ask Yuri on Ice to make a version that is actually yuri. Or maybe an all-girls version of Touken Ranbu. Or maybe Strike Witches with actual historical men. Or Kemono Friends in full fujo mode. Because right now, all those anime are pretty sexist since they are all about one gender doing their profession. Good, good idea there, whether you are being sarcastic or not. Good job, good effort. 10/10. Klappa

Movie is doing great, toys sell better than previous season... interesting way to kill franchise. Or maybe people don't care that much about punching and kicking if they get something in return.

I'm glad that Toei is willing to take a risk and change stuff up - I didn't like idea of fight in this one but after few episodes I no longer mind. Some change is good or you end up with truly dead franchise.

How dare this show intended to sell toys to little girls not cater to the tastes of grown-ass adults. The nerve!

I still don't understand it. The level of hatred over a show that's for little girls introducing an apparently interesting boy character, it is kind of bizarre to me. Obviously, the creators of this show do not have a similar idea that little girls should somehow hate little boys or think that they can't participate in a fantasy world. This hatred I think is almost certainly confined to adults who don't want a boy interfering with their separate fantasy about yuri relationships. That seems to me at this point to be the obvious source of the consternation.

Honestly, Julio is my favorite Kirakira character and he absolutely deserves to be a Cure (even though I don't think he actually is). Flashbacks have shown that he and his sister both dreamed of becoming Cures, but only Ciel got to because...what? Just because she's a girl? It always felt unfair to me. Again, I don't think he actually is a Cure, but I really think he should be.

(And how quickly we forget Cure Sebastian)
