Probably a dumb question I know. I'd imagine it has something to do with the movies,. I sadly lent my DVDs to a kid that ended up dying and its unlikely I'll get them back. I'm happy I could lend some good anime to the kid (he needed a heart transplant) but I'd really like to rewatch the series it's sad that pirating is my only option.
I was wondering what was happening w the us license
Thanks

ADV's license finally expired at some point after the last release in 2008. The two main threads of speculation on Evangelion TV's continued unavailability are:
1) Gainax/Khara/Anno are asking way too much for any company to re-license it profitably.
2) Whoever holds the rights is keeping them back to avoid dilution/confusion with the Western releases of the Rebuild movies.
Both or neither of these could be true. Or maybe the rights are so disputed/tangled on the Japanese side that no one's in a legal position to re-license the series at all.
