Huh, I thought it was part of the joke on how stupid Tetsutetsu was. I would believe he would confuse Steel for Steal after reading the chapter

I figured that was a typo. "Steal" doesn't sound very hero-like

I don't care what Horikoshi says his hero name is now legally Real Steal because he didn't spell check before submitting it and nobody in class had the heart to tell him.

Remember his editor is Japanese and likely doesn't know English to notice such a mistake. Then factor in like-sounding words that confuses that often confuses non-native speakers, this happens.
Fortunately the error was noticed. Though I'm curious by whom? By fans on social media? Translators at Viz?
