Mami kind of became my favorite after this volume. She's just so real. I was definitely platonic friends with one or two girls like her in high school.
This series is great for how it seems to play tropes straight (*ba dum tss*) while also suggesting you step back and pay closer attention to what's actually going on. I'll reserve my deeper thoughts on that for if/when the later volumes are covered, but Mami definitely gets the ball rolling.
You've been giving this series the critical analysis it deserves, Rebecca, so I hope you're able to cover the remaining three volumes, either on release or all at once.
