Wow, that's dedication! I wonder if the movie would've turned out more... tangible if all of it had been adapted. Though it remains a audiovisual marvel unlike anything anime has produced before which alone makes it worth watching.
It makes sense that this movie was much more expensive than typical anime movies. There are a couple of movies a decade that feel very... un-commercial – In This Corner of the World comes to mind – and this is definitely one of them Thanks for covering this! |

Honestly the entire story is...a lot regardless of which medium you consume it in, the manga has some more context though. |

All the money expend on this wasn't worth it.
It's a good looking movie, and that's it, the final result if an average and boring old tired story about "growing up"  . The cuts to the history and histories left out all the flavor that made the manga interesting.
