Did the anime follow the manga's (not) ending, or take the more obvious route?

Yes of course I'll watch but maybe we would have preferred to have motto motto?
I'd rather watch a continuation than a rehash with extra bits...no?
I guess anything that keeps Sensei around is better than nothing though, love these characters.
