This announcement kind of ruins the surprise that spoiler[Justice is actually the third Mashima character to have the blue hair and eye tattoo design after Sieghart from Rave Master and Jellal/Siegrain (and also Mystogan) from Fairy Tail], but seeing the other casting patterns, it was inevitable.
Glad to see a new face as Witch. I've been keeping close track of the cast since the show started airing in Japan, and the majority of actors have appeared on Fairy Tail to varying degrees, not just the deliberate lookalikes like Rie Kugimiya as Happy and Sayaka Ohara as Elsie/Erza (they got a new actor for Plue, though, but he doesn't speak and this isn't his first cast change since Rave Master, so anyone can play him). So when I see somebody who hasn't dipped their toes in a Mashima series before show up here, it stands out. I'm not complaining about the cast at all, though. Fairy Tail's franchise has been running for over ten years, so of course there'd be some overlap. Plus a lot of the show's staff has worked on FT before, including EZ's chief director, so past experience with the actors is almost definitely a factor. Though I can't help but feel there's some deliberate irony in casting Shinpachi Tsuji as a robot castellan who's not only a spitting image of Makarov, but is also spoiler[one of the very first characters to die, since Mashima notoriously backed out of several scenes where he intended to kill Makarov off, one being because he realized he wouldn't get to hang out with Tsuji again]. |
