I too am also saddened and shocked of what's happened, as it was so sudden. However, I've always had a soft spot for TMM from my experience both reading (of both English manga versions) and watching it (through various audio versions).
Either way, RIP Ikumi-San, may your legacy live on for all of us TMM fans.

I can't believe this happened. Tokyo Mew Mew was one of the first manga where I really participated in the fandom, and I've got so many fond memories of it. I read it and lent it out to friends in middle school until all my volumes were in rough shape. I always loved Ikumi-sensei's art. I pray her loved ones are able to find comfort during this time.

Thank you, Mia Ikumi, for giving the world the anime that got me (and presumedly some others) into anime. May you Rest In Peace.

This is really sad to hear. Tokyo Mew Mew was one of my first forays into the world of manga, and it holds a special place in my heart. Thank you, Ikumi-sensei. May you rest in peace, and may your family find comfort in these times.

RIP. Loved the art she did and wished she could have seen the latest of her work.

God, how awful. Tokyo Mew Mew was such an inspiration to so many people who grew up with the series, especially artistically.

I am absolutely, utterly heartbroken over her passing. Tokyo Mew Mew was a big inspiration to me as a child. I remember reading the manga over and over from the library on the school bus. I made my own Mew characters and villains and would dream of fighting alongside the characters even. It'll be hard to watch the new anime now without feelings of sadness and dread, like what happens when I hear Wada Kouji or Okazaki Ritsuko singing.
Sincerely, rest in peace. You were loved by many. <3
