The first episode was a lot of fun. A large part of that is due to the mc's having good chemistry. The banter between the calm/lazy former demon lord Narukami and former hero Meteor who is honestly quite a mess is rather amusing. Meteor reminds me of Aqua from Konosuba so she will surely deliver plenty stupidy. The side characters are also rather lively and the presentation is fittingly quirky.

1: It's trying hard, but the longer-form jokes didn't really work for me and the first half was a bit of a slog. The shorter segments in the second half were somewhat better.

Anyway, it is a different animal from the Devil is a Part-Timer, which had a continuous plot and some more serious elements, whereas here looks like we are going to mainly get 4-koma skits.

I was curious as to how this show would differ from The Devil is a Part-timer and it's definitely different... but not in a bad way. I got some chuckles. Enough to come back even though Meteor's voice when she screeches is a bit tough on the ears.

Episode 2

So that's two goofy comedy shows this season: this and Let's Go KAIKIGUMI. Oh and KAMUI: He's Behind You. As I said in the Kaikigumi thread, Detectives These Days are Crazy is my favourite recent example of the genre but I don't mind shows that play in that territory even if they aren't as funny.

I like that they played with my expectations. When they first introduced the two new girls I expected them to be special somehow, the romcom police comment then made me think they were just quirky. When the ghost segment started and they talked about ghosts I expected it to be a gag and yet we suddenly got a secret organisation with mages and evil aliens wanting to eat people.

Always fun to not know what to expect.

I am liking this a lot more than I expected to. The show manages to provide some romance, solid gags and a bit of action and it all flows rather well. Romance wise Ryuusei can be rather smooth, the gags including the monster vegetables are unpredictable and the hero and demon lord versus the alien looked decent. Now we even have a returnee.

For someone who is trying to keep being the hero a secret, she sure says she is the hero a lot. I thought that was the joke they were going for.

Maybe it is the mandela effect, but weren't those two girls called wizards in last week's episode and now they are called witches?
