Holy, anything that comes out of there will be the most hollow thing ever.

Can't wait for people to point out a webtoon that is 1% AI and tell us how AI is taking over because it looks good despite the 99% of the work the artist did being the important part.

The problem is it'll eventually go from
"I'm going to use AI just to save a bit of time here and there on details no one will care about"
to
"I'm running a bit late this week so I'll have AI do my panel layout"
to
"Well no one seems to mind it so I'll just have it do all everything but the character art"
to
"do pretty much everything."
And it will be all encompassing for the whole industry.

I feel like the planning stage might be one of the worst places to use generative AI. You're basing the rest of the work on something that was cobbled together out of other people's productions. It seems like it would be harder to do something novel or interesting when the very foundation of it is something you farmed out to a machine.

I do know that is likely the plan, but I also think that there is a concerted effort by AI companies and AI supporters to use the work of artists supported by AI to portray AI as an extremely useful tool that can help create great art, when it actuality you are just stealing the labor for a few steps before the artist does the real work.
You can tell because every time the subject of AI work comes up people jump in to say "what about this artist I saw that uses AI and makes good work" but every time people find out it is used in a major production for anything but a placeholder the work get excoriated for how horrid it looks.
People want you to look at these comics and say "Wow, AI made this?" while not addressing that the hard work of the artist over the stolen portion is what actually made it. Speaking of which, I see at least one name at the bottom is a sponsor from the Robotics and AI museum, so there while the rest are in Korean and I can't confirm this it does seem AI money is being used to do these awards, which does only further prove to me this is a commercial for the supposed capabilities AI and not about celebrating art made with AI.

Robotics and AI museum?? An AI museum, is that what I think it is or na? The way these companies are diving into AI is so reckless, its basically investing and pouring in billions on billions of dollars in an unknown future, reminds me of streaming platforms and everything else that was "for the future" with billions of dollars just to not be fulfilling

I 100% agree with you, that it is definitely going to escalate. Soon it will be 100% ai and robots. We aren't there yet, and some of the tools right now simply resemble tools we've already been using like prowritingaid, abc spell check, using a thesaurus or googling for definitions and words.
Theatres used to be all live, now you can just film it onto a screen, to now just streaming at home, then next agi will generate everything, to finally we just upload our consciousness into a network.
