That's adorable Hulu, still will be looking elsewhere to watch Gintama. Still livid at both the Mouse House and Hulu for what happened in late September 2025, reasons are glaringly obvious for those in the know.

I’ll be honest, I’m saddened by this news, I’ve wanted Gintama dubbed for a long time and while the Ocean dub also wasn’t perfect, I still believe it was the dub with the best chance of being at least passable for a show like Gintama. The Hulu dub for season 1 was a noticeable downgrade IMO. I guess this was inevitable tho just due to the fact this dub only exists because TV Tokyo were the ones to commission it and they’re the only people who actively want this show to push Gintama in the west. I understand they wanted to just stick with the cast they hired rather than try and course correct because at the end of the day it’s just gonna lead to more inconsistency, but still. While I hope this Miami cast can improve, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to fully let go of the Ocean cast. Doesn’t help that things still haven’t gotten to the level I’d want with what I saw of season 2 and Ginpachi Sensei. Also begs the question of what their plan is when they get to already dubbed stuff, are they gonna bother with the movies? Are they gonna redub eps 266-316? If that’s the case that will honestly kinda suck. At this point seems like the only way for Ocean to come back would be if Crunchyroll decided they wanted their own dub and brought Ocean back to do the rest, which obviously is extremely likely if at all given how CR is these days. Still, I guess this is the hand I’ve been dealt so if I have to watch the Miami dub then so be it, hopefully the cast will grow on me when I get to the later seasons. Still, gonna be hard to let go of what could have been

I have little to say about the actors themselves, they seem passable to me, but it's the direction that just absolutely does not hit. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be watching more of it and stick to Japanese.
The Ocean dub of 266-316 wasn't perfect either by any means, but I do think it's the best of the bunch. I may be biased though because I truly miss Ocean in general.

What is up with the random patchwork dub for this franchise. Sentai for Movie 1, Ocean via CR for the 2017 season, Sentai with Ocean main cast members for the Final Film via Eleven Arts and the first part of the show from Miami via Tubi.

From what footage I've heard, the Miami dub has got to be the worst one, even worse than the Sentai dub for the first movie. Huge shame no one is suing Ocean for the rest of the TV show.

there's a new voice director for this batch of episodes! Worth giving a try!

By far the worst is the Sentai dub.
