I admit I'm a little surprised, I thought Square-Enix would wait a year after the release of FFVII Remake on the Switch 2 (and Xbox) before porting Rebirth, but this more or less reinforces the theory that SE wants Nintendo and Xbox players to already be familiar with the first two games in the FFVII Remake Project so that Part 3 can be released simultaneously on all consoles and PC.
To be fair, some insiders had mentioned that Rebirth was going to launch on Switch and Xbox by summer of this year, but some people doubted it on the grounds that it was too soon, though that didn't stop Capcom from releasing Resident Evil VII and Village on the Switch near Requiem's launch, while others said that not all of the players who bought Remake's port were going to finish the game soon, ignoring the fact that the Switch 2 and Xbox port of Remake includes the option of playing the game with infinite health and magic and that all atacks deal maximum damage, so finishing the game isn't that difficult.
Some others had doubts in regards as whether the Switch 2 could handle Rebirth, since unlike Remake this one was made for the PS5, and while there's going to be tons of video essays comparing this port to the PS5/PS5 Pro and PC versions, I think it looks decent enough, it seems Remake's been doing quite well on the Switch 2, so there's probably a potential for Rebirth on Nintendo (and Xbox too).

I think that's why we get excited to see "can it run doom?" on such devices such as a pregnancy test. I was shocked seeing The Witcher 3 running on the original Switch. I got the same vibes today 4 times seeing FFVII Rebirth, ESIV Remake, PRAGMATA and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle which is notorious for it's PC requirements.
Speaking of Resident Evil I'm wondering if they'll port the 2, 3 and 4 remakes at some point.

The thing is, the idea of downporting high-end games into less powerful hardware has been a thing since the invention of video games, most of the Atari 2600 library consisted of ports of then popular arcade titles, like Space Invaders, and while it's true that some of them, like the infamous Pac-Man port, were of poor quality, that had more to with the fact that they were rushed, not unlike how some modern games are tend to run poorly. The trend continued on later generations, just look at games like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat on the Super NES and SEGA Genesis, or Ridge Racer on the original PlayStation, just to name a few.
The issue that I have with some people complaining about how FFVII Remake runs on the Switch is that some of them seem like they just don't like the idea of people playing the game on a console they don't like, and other seem to act like they have a duty to inform other how to truly enjoy the game, it's obvious that developers have to make a lot of work in oder to make these games run on weaker hardware, but the important thing is that more people are able to play the game, there's a great potential for sales on Nintendo (and even on Xbox) hardware, not everyone own more than one console and some casual players don't mind that the game doesn't run as well as it does on a PS5 Pro or high-end PC. And as I said, Square-Enix has mentioned they shifted to a multiplatform strategy, that their games cannot be tied to a single console anymore and that they wished more people were able to play the Final Fantasy VII Remake Project.

^Agree 100% here. Another thing I like about the switch 2 is it's built in mouse(s) along with gyro. Speaking as a person with a physical disability that gets worse with age, the more people that get to play your game the better. Who would have thought that we would be close to having color blind options almost standard (i've mostly seen this with indie games such as Deep Rock and the newly released Umigari).

FF7 Remake runs very well on Xbox Series S - Switch 2 should have no complaints
