This thread is for questions about forum moderation and rules. Is a particular type of post allowed? Why was such & such a thread locked, or post edited, should the rules be changed to allow or ban certain behavior, etc...
If you have a question for a specific moderator, regarding one of your posts ("why was my latest post deleted or edited by Nagisa?") please PM your question directly to the moderator in question (and don't post about it here), unless you don't know who the moderator in question was (in which case you can post your question here).
Absolutely no rudeness, be it profane or not, will be tolerated in this thread. This goes for the moderators and staff as well.

I guess I'll be the first one to brave this new thread, and in the process call you to the mat Tempest (figure of speech, don't wanna actually wrestle with you on a mat, sorry T). I agree with your comment, If you have a question for a specific moderator, | Quote: | | regarding one of your posts please PM your question directly to the moderator in question, | but there is one problem with that. How do we know we'll get a response? Why should we PM them if we're going to be shrugged off? I know, this coming from me, considering everything I've said recently, is along the lines of WTF did he just say. I figure I'd play Devil's advocate for a moment.
I personally agree whole heartily with that point Tempest, and is something I harp on constantly and do myself. I won't get into the specifics of why I do it, that's my business thank you, but I do PM the mods constantly with concerns. Ask Selenta or Zac about how annoying I am with my PM barrage. I am lucky in the aspect that MOST, not all, of the mods and staff respond to me and my questions/comments. Some people seem to want to assume I'm a "mod's pet" or just best friends with them. Honestly, I don't know why they respond to me as frequently as they do, that's their business. However, plenty of people it seems DON'T get replies, or if they do they're few and far between. I believe you shouldn't run your mouth without taking steps to fix whatever the issue is. Don't sit and bitch. The problem is, how can people improve or fix something if they're not shown the courtesy of a reply to even let them know what to fix? Hardly seems fair now does it?
Don't get me wrong, I don't feel the mods/admin/staff should have to reply to belligerent and flame filled PM's. I know if people want to be heard they need to voice themselves in a more professional, or at least calmer, manner. Simply PM'ing Nagisa and going "you're such a dick, you're a freaking nazi and a jew hater, you kill babies you bastard, die!!!!" is hardly the way to do it. While not that severe, or colorful, I'm sure you might remember my issues with the above mentioned Moderator when I got on your case about him. I'm sure we both remember how far I got with that. Eventually I dislodged my head from my arse and PM'ed him nicely and eventually got a reply. I mention this example as proof of how NOT to contact a mod by the way.
My question still remains though, how do we know we'll be shown the courtesy of a reply? I know the mods are only volunteers, and the staff are constantly busy. However, if we're going to ascribe to your wishes we should be given some sort of guarantee that as long as we do this, in the manner we should, we'll be given the courtesy of a reply (or at least told who to go to for the reply if that person is busy). I know being a mod is a volunteer job but it is still a job nonetheless, and one with responsibilities. One of which I feel is answering the questions and concerns of the posters here. I'm not asking for people to hold our hands and sing with us, just show some basic respect and courtesy. If we follow the rules and PM the authority figures here in accordance with the rules, in a polite manner, we should be shown the same actions in return. That's my 2 cents (more like 5 bucks) and I'd honestly appreciate any replies from staff/mods to this issue. Thank you.[/quote]

Well I can only speak for myself but I will respond to every PM I receive unless it is some completely useless flame filled hate message. I think it's pretty safe to say that if tempest is advising people to contact us directly that a response is expected of us.

What's expected and what's actually done are 2 different things as many of us know. I do appreciate your response to my post Keonyn and I will say you have honestly responded to every PM I've sent your way.

I recently heard that animefreak6969 / iwatch2muchanime was finally banned. Again. To whoever banned him, again, thank you. Please don't ever let him come back. If you promise to never let him back in I promise to never bring him up again.

Hello, Dax, nice to see you around.
Sadly I don't think he was banned. I was really happy that the board wasn't totally cluttered with spam for nearly a week but then he posted just yesterday so it looks like if there was a ban it wasn't permanent.
But then again I was pretty upset when I saw him come back the first time. He was getting so bad when he was using the animefreak6969 account that I was reporting almost every single post he made right before he got banned. And then he just came back acting pretty much the same. I didn't really bother to report all his spam and sometimes highly inappropriate posts again since I figured even if they did anything they'd just let him back again anyway, so I just tried to ignore him.

Wow, that's really wierd timing. This was brought up a day after I come back, and by someone who supposedly isn't on the forum anymore. Anyway, nice to see the Dax man, hope he's back for a longer time instead of just one angry PM.
But to the liking of undeadben and Dax, although back, I won't be posting much in the forum, I think that was part of the "deal", if THAT was even the reason I was let back in (All I want is My Anime list, I updated it seconds after I was informed of my possible return), I did the Meet ANN thing and that'll probably be it for a while (Except this one), unless a Character I know comes up in the game thread you may not see a post from me. LUCKY YOU!!
Peace, Love, and Fortune for all ~Timmy!

I'm happy to see that abunai is a mod now, but I'm wondering, why now, and for what reason? Seems really sudden to me; was the current moderation staff as it was still not enough?

I know that caught me by surprise too. I was browsing threads this morning and I see him making a post letting someone know where to go to find something etc etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then I see him type locked and I thought to myself WTH. Scroll back out and sure enough there he is in the moderator list and showing up on the active members list with his name in green. I'm not complaining, he's certainly been here long enough and knows his stuff, it's just, as you said Frentymon, sudden.
edit--- I guess that means next on the list is dormcat hehe

Actually, Tempest asked me to become a mod last year, and I had to decline for various personal reasons (mostly to do with the very nasty divorce that I was undergoing at the time).
It's been a while since then, and my personal affairs have settled down somewhat. Increasing frustration with only being able to report something and then having to wait for the mods to do something about it, led me to offer Tempest my services as a mod, if he was still interested. He accepted the offer, with kind enthusiasm.
Of course, there are plenty of mods, and I'm not urgently needed -- but I view myself as an Encyclopedia editor first, and a moderator second. My senpai, between them, have been doing a fine job, and I'm just a supernumerary.

That's pretty cool abunai, Congrats on your promotion. Now you are an Encyclopedia Editor and a Mod.

I wondered personally if you had ever been asked to be a mod before, considering you have been here a while and like I said you do know your stuff. Well, glad to have you as a mod now, and sorry about the whole divorce thing. A friend of mine is going through that now. It's a really unpleasant experience.
