This is today, and a pretty minor event, but I thought I'd post anyway.

(At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
October 25
The Anime Revolution in Media, Culture and Politics. Prof. Ian Condry will
discuss the global influence of Japanese animation for understanding
contemporary media, culture and political economy.
5:00pm-7:00pm, room 4-370

I saw a flyer for this, and it also mentioned that he'd be talking about fansubs and the Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei anime (I'm not sure why...). I hope I can go!

Possibly because the show is about a school teacher?
