I ask this not to sound arogant, but to get examples of others experiences. Becsuse from mine, every anime fan at my school (myself included) is a pretty smart person. Have any of you had the same experiences?

Actually, yes. All of my friends who like anime get 90 or above averages (we're all Juniors or Sophomores in High School). Kind of odd when you think about it...0_o

I've run across anime fans on all parts of the intelligence scale. I've met anime fans that were absolute geniuses, I've met some that were absolute morons (should it be considered coincidental that they acted like spiteful fanboys?), and I've met a vast majority that ran somewhere in the middle.

And where exactly do you place yourself Wink?
I think that the fact that someone likes anime means that he or she is open to new things and experiences (which is a sign of a wise person).

First of all, do you mean "smart" or "intelligent?"

Both. some of my friends don't get great grades but are damn near genius level. I'm sorta in the middle. I run around the 3.50 GPA area, but that doesn't in my opinion determine intelligence. Creativity and open mindedness do, and anime fans usually have that.

Definitely. All the anime fans I know are incredibly open-minded people. Well, all except one (He wants to take over the world some day...anyways...). Everyone I know who likes anime is both booksmart and creative people open to new things.

No.

I've met some who fit the genius profile, and some who were as dumb as bricks. About the only thing they all have in common is their willingness to enjoy something from other cultures....

This 'anime=smart' thing is yet another example of the common anime fan's elitism....

And elitism is something I hate....

Not at all. I mean I know people that aren't doing well in their non-advanced classes, classes you could skip everyday and still get 100. Their probably bigger anime fans than I am, but they don't seem to be getting any smarter.

I sort of agree but sort of the same thing occurs around here about South Park. It seems if you watch South Park you are either smart or a complete idiot.

Graduated high school with honours. Official records apparently say I had a 4.0, but I'm still in disbelief (how can you get a 4.0 when you've had a couple B+'s?). Also got all A's the first quarter of college...currently in second quarter and seem to be doing okay there, too.

But then...yeah...I may have some booksmarts, but I'm an absent-minded klutz. Confused

No, it doesn't mean your smart (but thanks for reminding me to take that IQ test). Grades don't mean your smart, either.

No, it does not mean your open-minded. I like things to stay simple and the same and absolutely HATE having to try new things (although that could be because I'm not the most social person).

I wasn't SAYING that watching anime meant you were smart, I was just siting a pattern and asking a question. That's it, so stop calling me an typical elitist.

Most people I know who watch anime are decently intelligent for the most part. I would rate myself probably highly intelligent but I have two problems laziness and bad study habits(I absolutely don't have a clue how to study.).
