I'm pretty sure that it's just back-catalogue, one-shot Central Park Media stuff.

I tried searching Google (using the terms "Columbia House" and "Best of Japanese") for exactly which titles are included, but I mostly got those cryptic pages with random words and phrases that they hope non-wary web surfers will click on to get to their page which will forward them to their porn n' spyware page.

I've been a Columbia House DVD club member for some time now, and I've never heard of this anime club before. It's probably a scam.

It's not a scam, I've seen ads for it in the mailings, but it's not a real "club", it's more like they send you random CPM DVDs (or, back when they first did it in the old days, Streamline/Orion VHS tapes), which you don't choose, but you can send them back.

Keep in mind that "Best" is strictly a marketing gimmick.

Though I don't really see the point of CH at all anymore, period. It might have made sense 10 years ago for people whom didn't like hunting down VHS tapes of things in stores, but now you can order pretty much anything from Amazon.com or DeepDiscountDVD.com for cheaper without the hassle of being in a club where you either have to send the card back in once a month or you get "This Month's Selection" which, then, you also have to send back if you're not interested in it.

i had best of anime back when it first started, i had the same problem i didn't know what i was gonna get so i just ended up calling them and asked them they sent me a paper saying all the anime titles id be getting in order.
