The art style and action is really good. The art has a unique feel to it. Does anyone know of any anime that have a similar look and feel as outlaw star?
btw, i've seen bebop and trigun and while some of the themes are similar, these shows just don't "feel" like OS.

I thought Cowboy Bebop was kind of simliar and *cough* better *cough* than Outlaw Star
In my opinion, Big O was kind of like Outlaw Star....just a wee bit.

Outlaw star is one of the few anime who has a really good box set price. 3 Dvds for about $60, $65 from major retailers. Most other series in this price range are much older, or only OVA. I loved that deal in episodes and love their company for its pricing.

The Outlaw Star boxed set has 6 DVDs. There are 2 DVDs in each DVD case, so it does give the appearance of only having 3 DVDS.

Indeed it is. Outlaw Star (As long as you are watching the unedited DVD version) is very good. The English dub was quite good, in my opinion, and the animation wasn't that bad either. Cowboy Bebop did do the whole "Wild West Space Bounty Hunter" thing a lot better, but OS was in that genre a full 3-4 years or such before CB. Although, the two seem almost completely different to me.
There was talk about making more OS, but the creator was "tied up in other projects", and thus could not find time to make more OS, although he did say he would love to make more.
The ending is also quite open ended, leaving an easy opening for a sequel to slip in at some point in the future.

The original idea's for both Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star were created by Hajime Yatate or whatever name Sunrise calls itself. And in the case of OS, it seems it was co-created by "Hajime Yatate" and Takehito Ito.

Yes, Outlaw Star is very awesome and they cut one of the best episodes off the Toonami run (with good reason). It had really awesome fighting, really cool weapons, and awesome pirates. All in all, a very good watch indeed.

Outlaw Star was what started it for me. It had a good storyline. I stand by it 100%!

I've heard about one of the OS episodes being omitted from the schedule. Why did they decide not to air it? was it to graphic?

There nudity in the episode, and Gene had to tape dirty pictures of one the wizards to get caster shells.

They cut out episode 23 "Hot Springs Planet Tinrei". So as you can guess from the title, there are many scenes with girls in hot springs. So it would be too hard to edit everything out.
The sad thing is that this is one of the funniest episodes and only those who have seen the DVDs will know just how good this episode is.
***EDIT***
Oh, i almost forgot, this episode also explaines the origin of the caster shells.

Actually, there was very little overt nudity, as I recall... only Eisha was shown nude above the waist, and only for a second or two, and a few shots of female posteriors.... granted, there was plenty of bathing suits, suggestive poses, and well draped towels, but no other nudity.... Though Suzuka sure looks like she'll fall out of her outfit at any moment.... and Jim sure gets all the loving from the pretty ladies.... and with the Nantai and Nyotai mountains... well, I was really expecting something a bit more... *ahem* male and female shaped....
Well... it might have been a bit racy for Adult Swim at the time... I think it probably would fly now, though...
I do think that the Adult Swim run really missed out not explaining the Caster super-shells he suddenly has in the later episodes...
Gotta say, though... Outlaw Star is one of my personal favorites. Love that show... love the universe.... plenty of fun. Angel Links wasn't bad, but it didn't quite capture the original magic of OS for me.

No longer aired on Cartoon Network... and I think CN lost the airing rights....
Just buy it. You won't go wrong with this box set.... even if I did buy it when it was 45 USD per volume....

If I remember, there was a shot for about 5~10 seconds of Melfina emerging from her crate at the begining of episode 24, and it showed her breasts. Other than the brief shots in episode 23, there really isn't that much nudity.
