I will restate what I have said in the past - the real-time combat of P5 Strikers that slows/freezes when you pull up a Demon's ability menu (similar to how FF7R combat works, actually) was infinitely more enjoyable to me than the actual main Persona 5 game's original run. I would much prefer to see that style of combat from the series going forward, personally.

Raidou was always interesting, I like the time period and the detective aspect of it, but from a gameplay standpoint there was a lot of backtracking and menu management that slowed the pacing down a lot. I do have to wonder, if that has lightened up, how much faster can the game be finished overall.... On paper it sounds like a QoL change, but the game was paced and designed around that older system, so I wont be able to say until I get my hands on the new version myself if this a change for the better or for worse.

I didn't play the original, but it sounds like a nice improvement for the combat. Looking forward to this one =)

I have the original version of the game on Playstation 2. I love the 1920s Tokyo setting of the game but it was definitely one of those PS2 JRPGs where I figuratively hit a wall and couldn't figure out what to do next, even after checking GameFAQs.

Sounds great. Hope they give the same treatment to the Digital Devil Saga games next. One of their best combat systems, that's held back by poorly designed dungeons and a comically high combat rate.

Raidou 2 pretty much scrapped the Raidou 1 system and started over. Here, it seems like they basically started with Raidou 2's battle system instead and picked up from where it left off - so this practically looks like Raidou 3.

I seem to recall a Raidou 2 remaster was already leaked, so that makes sense. I can't help but wonder if maybe all this will be the basis for an actual Raidou 3.

Just found out the collectors edition from Limited Run Games opened a while ago. Rolling Eyes The Atlus website said they'd update when it was available, but never did that I saw and couldn't find info of any kind on LRG when I checked last month. Just noticed LRG updated their Instagram page 2 days ago to say orders were open, but they actually opened back on the 5th and only goes until June 1st. Glad I noticed, would have sucked to miss it (I'm sure they'll have some in their store at the time). Also panicked when I saw it wasn't being released until May 2026, but it turns out the game is sold separately so the game is $50 and released in June and the box is $200 and ships next year. That makes a lot more sense. It's a total of $50 more than the P3R set, but this set has a larger statue and a plush cat along with other physical items not in the P3R set so it seems like a much better value. The annoying part is that even though the game is sold separately you have to buy the both from them even though the order is split in your cart, cancelling one cancels both.

I haven't played any of the Raidou games but I did snag a new copy of the second game's collector's edition (with Jack Frost plush) back in the day for I think $20 on clearance at GameStop. I started to play it, but then decided I should play the first one first, but then moved on to PS3 and never went back.
