Neat; Bastion looks like a cool new class, now I wonder what the next one is if they're using FFXIV characters as a base. Locations are distinctive, though I find the raids being two collabs to be a bit lame. The Eva one is already confirmed to have copyright issues due to music, so streamers are already mad about that. As for FFVII...look, when you pick Motomu Toriyama as its writer, you are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
As for the Switch 2 version, whelp, gonna have to trim some fate on the SD card, and probably just get a 512 GB. Yeesh

Would be nice to be able to preload the trial edition of it on Switch 2. I'm gonna have to move my dock to hook it up to the Ethernet regardelss. I'm hoping we can use the Joy Con 2s as a mouse. Granted I'll most likely switch K+M eventually. $20 for the base version ain't bad either but still the extra fee I would have to pay sucks. Maybe give Switch Online Membership players a free pass Nintendo?

The reaction by the live audience to the typing game reveal was not exactly glowing...but then they showed you get Tifa's outfit for doing it and suddenly the tone changed.

Apparently the bottom of the barrel is someone who wrote for the original FF7 and is co-director for the Remake series? That seems like an awfully shallow barrel (to match a shallow understanding of the creatives involved with FF)

I mean, he also has a long history of acting weird about women characters, sexualizing minors, and has written some of the worst stories in SqEx history (-glances at Third Birthday and Front Mission: Evolved-). There are far more interesting and more qualified people to go to bat for.

Being weird about women characters... by making games where they are complex, well-realized, and the focal point like X-2 and XIII. Also Shinji Hashimoto was the primary voice behind Evolved, while Toriyama's contributions to the 3rd Birthday were the idea for Aya's outfit and a story that underwent massive changes under Toshimitsu Takeuchi when it shifted development into being a PSP game. FF "fans" and creating narratives in their head based off misinformation and just making stuff up, name a better duo
I don't know who exactly would be more qualified to lead a FF7 tie-in than someone involved with it since the beginning and who has been in charge of scenario direction for a decade-long ongoing reinvention of it, but based off your responses here I don't think you'd actually have a better answer lmao

You know Dawntrail was poorly recieved since they finally had to break the emergency glass of bringing in Sephiroth and other FF7 crossover stuff. Unfortunately it's the Remake series and not the original but I'm not really surprised. Remakes don't replace the original my left foot.
Both raid series now confirmed to being non-canon crossover fluff is very disappointing. I like the original story content and expanding the lore on FF14. Shadowbringer's Nier raid series was completely forgettable and Dawntrail's Vanadiel is nothing more than memberberries for FF11. Zero importance or impact to our game. Omega and Ivalice had a decent balance between nostalgia pandering and incorporating things into the current game lore-wise. I guess it's harder to do though.

I have no idea how you can be a fan of FF14 when it's rife with all those things. But I'm surprised you hate him so much since if those are your points of contention you should love the FF7 Remake series which basically stamps out all those icky problematic elements and covers up the female characters more. I don't know if he's responsible for FF7 Remake being toned down and is washed now or someone above him is but if he's kept in check by the tone of the remakes I doubt you'd have anything to worry about.

Oh no, they gave Tifa a sports bra, the humanity.
If you think Remake/Rebirth are fully "covered up" or whatever you clearly haven't played them.
Anyway, excited to come back in September to finish the story and prepped for Evercold. Everything new seems pretty rad and I'm excited any the 7 raids (less the Eva ones, but oh well).

Anyone who keeps making statements like these have no idea how long these crossover events have been planned. They didn't just make these crossovers the day they were announced, these were YEARS in the planning.
You think they just came up with that on a whim, then decided they had a year to get everything ready and finished?

I agree that doing double collaborations feels like a jaded marketing idea to drum up interest, rather than the result of any genuine vision.
FF7 was likely going to happen at some point, but I figured it was going to be a 24 man alliance or new exploration zone that could use famous locations as environmental areas rather than 8 man raids. And of all the minigames you could pick, a friggin' typing game was the top pick. Yeah, not on my controller.
And as for Evangelion, it's hard not to feel cynical about anything a franchise that has successfully ended 4-5 times but refuses to stop trying to remain relevant, i.e. profitable.
Both would have sounded like dream projects earlier on in FFXIV's lifespan, but between focus on their newer iterations, the head staff working on them charitably being considered divisive, and player experience knowing that the end result is rarely as impressive as the initial reveal might suggest.. well let's just say I'm side-eyeing both. The Ivalice alliance largely worked because there was enough overlap between both universes that helped integrate it into XIV's larger world-building, but the attempt with Nier & XI both felt like a nostalgia baiting clipshow for a built in fanbase,
A shame because the new original locations look fantastic and I wish the staff would have more confident in their own vision, rather than shiny baubles like potentially getting plugsuit glamour.

Ya boy's a sleazy, middle-aged creep who can't write women except as objects of desire for him specifically and only gets tasks because of the old guard's boys club mentality. Deal with it.

Basically, it comes off like key jangling and that's not really what I find interesting about the raids. Those typically helped the larger world, not be cross promotional because SqEx executives demanded them. Just comes off as very awkward.

Yeah, double collab is certainly disappointing. The new tank job looks fun and I hope to see more FF14 original jobs in the future. I hope Evercold ends up being a lot better than Dawntrail. To be fair I didn't like Arcadian much either thanks to the plot twist in the end so even with that original story it wasn't very meaningful for me.

All the best game devs are sleazy perverts to some degree. That's just a sign of creativity and limitless potential. I remember Sayoko Hoshino famously being the one insisting all the girls in Type-0 have different textures and designs for their panties to reflect each of their characters and refused to let it just be a black void under their skirts. Silent Hill 3 had a similar design point about Heather's design
In general I'm wary of anyone who uses puritan talking points as a derogatory remark on a person's art. The degenerates are the ones making the best art from what I can see.

Well, can't argue with that. In that you have nothing to actually back up your assertions to address in the form of an argument (I guess you being factually wrong about multiple things got you scared of going into any further detail; as they say, "better to remain silent and be thought a fool etc. etc." lol). Have fun being aligned with and having the same critical capacity as TheSpoonyOne and people pejoratively calling X-2 "gay" because it stars women and they do magical girl transformations. Maybe one day your understanding of Final Fantasy and the people behind it will advance beyond the year 2009

Y'all never would have survived X-2 if you think Tifa's original outfit is too skimpy and needed to be restricted with a sports bra and stockings. At least the minion in-game is of the original Tifa.

Given how the Dead Or Alive series has hit its ceiling decades ago. While the Senran Kagura series has been in limbo video game wise since the remake of the first 3DS game this is a hell of take.
