With all the ~su I could only imagine that character being voiced by the seiyuu who did Momo from Saki.

I love Fate/Zero and the entire Fate/Stay Night universe... but I just can't justify the price they want for it. I would think for $500, it would include a limited edition figure, or a signed... SOMETHING. I mean, the unaired content from the episodes is intriguing but I can't see it being more than maybe 15 minutes worth... I just don't understand x.x;

seriously going by US prices this set should be about 120 to 150 US if it was that price I could justified buying the set but not 500 US.

Indeed, that is how most people feel THIS side of the border about movie/software prices in USD :-p

The only thing to understand is that Japan will pay that price.

The Fate/Zero BD box set #1 is projected to sell a ridiculous amount of copies. They sell it for that much because they know the Type-Moon otaku will pay that much. And if they priced it cheaper there isn't all that big of a crowd who would buy it at a cheaper price compared to the higher price.

The MSRP is on-par or a little cheaper than a normal 1-cour of anime costs in Japan (released over 6-7 volumes). Instead of buying a series over 6 months, fans get to buy the first-half in one-shot.

While the MSRP is $500...buying it either at Rightstuf or Amazon JP or HMV is cheaper since they sell the set as at a discount.

Now...one can argue that spending $800ish for both cours of Fate/Zero is crazy, but then again, that price is roughly on-par for a 2-cour series sold in Japan (even though some 2-cours shows are cheaper than that).

Not even worth trying to explain, Megiddo. This thread is most definitely going to erupt into a ragefest.

People have been complaining for a while about how it takes them too long to bring anime over here, saying its no longer a popular anime by the time it gets here... but if you want anime to come over fast, you gotta be willing to pay the Japanese prices. You can't have both quick releases and low prices.

I'm patient. I'd rather have an affordable release than get it when Japan does. Even if they released standard editions or something, then sure I'd pick it up. I used to pay around $100+ for a boxset/season back in the day... No way am I able to even do that anymore.

One month's worth of rent for half a series? No thanks, please do not buy this release to send a message to Aniplex. As a fan and collector, I am certainly intrigued by the extras, but not at that expense. I have to pay bills and feed myself after all.

I'm so excited, I can't wait for my order to ship! This is what makes these releases so amazing and worth the price tag imo.

I loved the Kara no Kyoukai set and this one seems like it might be even better in all respects! This is quality goods at the right price!

the simple fact is we have all grown up with a different notion of percieved value on goods because our companies all go by the rule that we must sell x amount to break even and offering it at a lower price will make it more attractive to more people, increasing the odds of breaking even and going into profit
the anime industry in Japan is different, it goes by we must sell x amount to break even and offering it at a higher price but attracting fewer potential buyers is a more reliable way to reach the break even mark

i for one prefer our way of going about selling products, i always feel more inclined to part with my money when i feel like i'm getting a bargain/more for my money
example: recently brought all 50 episodes of Eureka Seven, Sekirei and a blind buy Eden Of The East (never seen or knew anything about it) all for about £65
if i was only getting say Sekirei for that price i simply woudn't have brought anything at all, i'd save the money for something else

i wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Fate/Zero set one day, but i can wait till a reasonably priced one comes out, even if its a couple of years, and maybe with a dub too (i don't think this one has one right?) so i can get my money's worth, $380 (or something similar to that) is a months rent for alot of people and i'd rather have somewhere to live than a 13 episode box set

saying that, i'f you're lucky enough to have that kinda money to burn on a box set then congrats to you, most of us would like to be in your position
